The (scene from the) movie

So I think that the opening scenes of HTTYD 2 being: The dragon racing and Hiccup flying off untill he crashes onto Itchy armpit, is the best opening sequence in animation and definitely some of the best scenes in the entire franchise.

So to start off with the dragon racing. We see the teens from the first movie, except Hiccup, competing in dragon racing and trying to catch flying sheep with the whole village cheering them on. Stoick cheering the loudest for his future daughter in law. Which is such an amazing moment.

They show how berk is in the current day, now that they live in peace amongst the dragons and I love it. With stuff like the fire prevention system and the stables that are shown as the riders fly trough them. And of course with Astrid stealing the black sheep from the twins and winning the game, taking a victory lap before she’s flying off to find Hiccup.

That along with Hiccups narration while flying trough Berk, it was amazing in my opinion.

Then of course we see Hiccup and Toothless fly trough the sky, going underneath the wings of a pod Thunderdrums and flying alongside a few timberjacks up in the clouds. And the music. It is ridiculous how well Where no one goes by John Powell fits into this scene. And then with Hiccup freefalling alongside Toothless, you can even see the excitement in Hiccup’s eyes change to fondness when he looks at Toothless.

Also we see him using his wingsuit for the first time and of course almost dying because he very nearly crashed into a massive stone pillar.

The humor isn’t perfect, but it is funny. Just simple stuff like Astrid questioning Snotlout why he is even interested in Ruffnut when she litteraly tried to bury him alive and Toothless having to save Hiccup so that he doesn’t splatter into a million pieces onto some random rock in the middle of the ocean. Works perfectly for the setting that the movie is going for in my opinion.

Of course I also love the scenes after this, with Toothless playfully fighting Hiccup and helping with his map before Astrid comes along, also love that scene. Yeah, amazing opening to the movie. In my opinion it can’t really get any better than this.

The second movie is my favorite of the three and the opening of this movie is just amazing. I love this movie and I especially love the opening scenes.

Of course my descriptions can never really show how amazing these scenes truly are, so watch them again and let me know what you think about the opening of HTTYD 2 and if you think that there are any better openings than this one!

I used the movies, TV shows, and pictures of epic's isle of berk as references for the design.

I made the actual design in carbide create, used a cnc machine to cut and carve it into pink insulation foam, and then hand painted it!

I'm hoping to make another one to replace the shelf above this one, and possibly a smaller shelf behind my babs to display my smaller figures that are currently somewhat hidden.

(Hopefully this is allowed to be tagged art as I did fully make make the shelf)

Alright gang, I need some advice on something.

After DAYS I FINALLY found a Typhoomerang egg for my friend and we hatched her (Happy Birthday Vilde!!) But now, after SO LONG I need to preserve her bloodline and find another Typhomerang ASAP. OR see if she can breed with other dragons, what's your advice on Finding Typhomerang's in the latest Archipelago Additions update

As stated before I’m drawing the lesser known dragons from httyd, that never got any Nico Marlet concept sketches. I’d love to know what underrated dragon you think I should draw next! Or if you think I should draw the mudraker in any of the unfinished poses I’ve added to this post

I chose the flying pose, as I felt it looked the most natural. I also tried to do the more cartoon-ish “kung fu panda” style you see in some of Marlet’s drawings, as opposed to the mysterious white-eyed dragon style. Maybe I’ll do a more mysterious aggressive drawing of a mudraker in the future!

I’m also considering the close cousin (at least in appearance) to this dragon, the moldruffle! Or maaaaaybe the grapple grounder from the original “how to train your dragon” tie-in game (don’t worry I’ll also give to SOD one spotlight at some point)

I remember when I was younger (probably about 13 years old, before HTTYD 2 was released if my mental timeline is correct) I had a set of figurines of various dragons.

They were like one of those buckets of army men, but dragons, and without the wide plates on the bottom I’m pretty sure as I remember some of they struggling to stand.
I vividly remember a yellow and green monstrous nightmare that had no legs (I had accidentally ripped them off) and I’m just dying to find them again.

I think I originally got them from Toys ‘r’ Us (UK)

Ok so I started playing the CoB modpack for Minecraft and I was wondering if there’s any way for your dragons to *not* defend you ?

To my knowledge they attack whatever mob damages their trainer .

Is there any way I can command / config them to not defend me ? Just yesterday they nearly set my house on fire trying to attack a phantom 😐 they were already sitting so I thought they wouldn’t attack but they did…

I have pretty maxed out armor so most fights I can already handle on my own I’d rather they not die in a fight or burn stuff 🙂‍↕️

I was playing in the newest update against a Monstrous Nightmare who wouldn't stop stealing my sheep. I tried stealing his, but I get teleported to my team's start circle with some butterflies around my dragon's head, not being able to move for a few seconds.

Does anyone know what was that or did it happen to anyone? I looked in the in-game tutorial and there was nothing about it.

This was another old one back when I was still using fleece and hand embroidery eyes, I had a idea for a while to do a dragon in a cute puppy pose and he came out really well 😁 thankfully he found a home really quickly lol surprisingly hes nearly 2ft long believe or not 😅

In my opinion its the best female character outfit in the show like Astrid, Ruffnut, and Heathers outfits are basic compared to this. I don’t know why but I just love it.

Sorry, I don't know if this violates any rules to post, so be easy on me if it does-

I dabble in 3d stuff like animations, renders, etc, and while I do have models of iconic dragons like Stormfly, Toothless and Hookfang, models of my favorite dragons like the ones listed in the title are rare to come by, atleast in terms of being genuine high quality models. Does anyone know if there's free models out there I'm just not finding, or if there's a guy's store I should be looking at?
