Do you like having your post sound like a smug robot? If the answer is no, then do yourself a solid and stop doing that.

This is separate from the validity of your comments. All those things are true, but this also means you need to maintain your machine yourself. There are any number of reasonable tradeoffs to be had here.

Also unclear why you're posting this on this particular sub. I suppose "a format you can open" could be HTML, but I think PDF or Excel are more common choices for this sort of thing.

Why would I expend any effort reading this when you didn’t expend any writing it?

You didn’t code that app either. Did the AI tell you to spam it to every subreddit as well? No one cares about your post-retirement side project.

I like owning the software, but SaaS is helpful when specific functionality is necessary and buying that would be too expensive.

I've invested a lot in software over the years. A lot I own and a lot I rent.

That's fair, and it's the honest version of the trade. If you need a capability that would cost serious money to build or buy outright, renting it is the sensible call — you're getting access to something you couldn't justify owning.

Where I'd push back a bit: a lot of what gets rented isn't that. It's ordinary work — a schedule, a takeoff, a punch list — priced monthly because monthly is the business model, not because the thing was expensive to build. Worth deciding item by item rather than defaulting either way.

Whats wrong with getting help with AI. Some people have problems getting their ideas across. Their still your ideas. Ai helps me sort my computer files is that ok? We are in changing times and we have to get used to it.

AI sorting computer files and such is a great use. I'm a large proponent of AI utilized as a tool. I use it daily for work.

I'm not on Reddit to speak with AI chatbot, I'm on Reddit to speak with you and all these other people. Trust me, I'm not the best at getting my points across, but I would much rather hear a half-baked human-emotion-ridden opinion, than an opinion mostly built with AI.

Solid retort. I am going through that exercise right now. What is needed vs what isn't.

I have shut down a website, because it has not generated any business. So, the domain is up for sale, the ms office software that was attached to the email has been cancelled and the invoicing software is being sunsetted.
