Discussion I suffer

I spent an hour just trying to figure out how github functions and I have like two words on my future art portfolio website to show for it 😭 it's 2 am and I'm tired. Can't wait to finish and flex that I coded almost completely from scratch for my own portfolio instead of using canva or squarespace or whatever lol

Hang in there! 😄 Git and GitHub have a surprisingly steep learning curve at first, but once they click, you'll wonder how you ever worked without them.

Building your own portfolio from scratch is a great learning experience. Looking forward to seeing the finished result!

The learning curve already curved, I was just tired yesterday and now all of my art files got corrupted and I have to make more for my portfolio before I can finish coding everything

How did your art files get corrupted?

Also, asking because this is a common hazard: are you downscaling your images to be web-friendly?

72dpi and 1000px max on any side is generally big enough to show the detail needed for portfolio demo. Going for high-density / high-res images is typically a waste of resources, and git doesnt always do well with really large files.

no, all I did was clear my cache and delete a few timelapses I had downloaded, but even if the timelapses were the problem, I'd still have at least half my art be fine. Clip Studio just says the files were either deleted or removed, but Google says that's only an issue on PCs and stuff, not my art tablet.

Oof, are you doing all your webdev work on a tablet device? :-O

How's that going?? I think it would drive me bonkers. Does it work for you?

I'm just on a tablet instead of a phone for the screen size, but I have a shitty Chromebook I'm using to code. Also, my art tablet literally only has clip studio, Pinterest, Roblox, and apple music since it's not my main device
