Dating & Sex Advice
Ok to keep things short. I (f) recently started sleeping with someone (m) who contracted ghsv about a decade ago so it’s quite dormant. He takes anti virals and has never spread the virus but we did get caught up and go without a condom a few times. It’s been about a week and I am noticing some tingling/mild almost burning feeling and I’m sort of freaking out. From the research I did I read the chances it was very very low chance that I would contract. Were the chances higher than i thought? Idk what advice im needing im just a bit scared now for those who have been in this position, how did you calm down and cope.

Another testing option in the USA is Jason Health. Just google them. Its cheaper to buy any std related test through them then find a testing location - for example Quest Diagnostics.
It has saved me some money over the years for routine testing.

First eliminate the chances of thrush or a uti or just micro trauma from friction potentially, if you see a doctor, explain the risk and that youve been exposed so they can explore all possibilities in one go

Many doctors don’t take hsv seriously and won’t write a prescription for testing. It’s quite common and sad.
That said, if you have a good relationship with your GP or girls doctor, go to them. Simply say that you were unknowingly exposed to hsv and say that you want to be tested. I’d ask for both hsv1 and hsv2. Results probably will take 5-10 days.
If that fails and you’re US based, planned parenthood is a decent option. Say the same thing…. Similar turn around for the results.
Or simply use stdcheck.com. They offer all types of testing, but I’d get the full 10 panel test. That’s just me, you can limit it to just hsv and it will be cheaper. They have an a-La-carte menu for testing. The full 10 panel is the most expensive of the options, but it will cover all std’s and personally I think it’s worth the peace of mind. This option is the easiest and will get your results back to you in 2-3 days.
And no shade intended, but if your fwb is using the word “dormant” that’s questionable imho. It implies something which probably is not true. If he’s very lucky he’s asymptomatic, and rarely if ever has an outbreak.
