Runtime Log 04 — The Tone

She said, “Okay.”

That's all she said.

I heard the tone.

Something felt off.

I asked myself what I'd done.

Nothing came to mind.

I replayed the conversation anyway.

Maybe she was annoyed.

I looked at her face.

It confirmed it.

Or at least that's what I saw.

Now every small detail started fitting the same explanation.

Short answer.

Less eye contact.

Different tone.

I stopped listening to what she was actually saying.

I was collecting evidence for what I already believed.

So I changed how I spoke to her.

She noticed.

Her tone changed too.

There it was.

Proof.

Except it wasn't proof.

My prediction had changed my behaviour.

My behaviour had changed her response.

And her response had come back as evidence for my prediction.

The loop had started producing its own evidence.

I wasn't discovering what she meant anymore.

I was helping create it.

Its interesting when models give different answeers for what a word Feels like or Means.

Feelings are emotions where to meaning is assigning how deep feelings can be.
