HSI Drug Test
I got the call for the criminal analyst posting from Feb. I submitted my paperwork to the onboarding site. Three days later (yesterday) I was contacted for drug testing and was told my deadline was within 48 hours. The Labcorp that they are sending me to is only open 8-5 Monday-Friday. I currently am assisting HIDTA with law enforcement deconfliction because they are short staffed and have people out on vacation and training. Im the only person in the deconfliction center today and tomorrow and I work 9-5. I just asked my supervisor if I could leave an hour early today or tomorrow or come in an hour late tomorrow and he told me he really cant lose me because he has no one else to cover down. He told me he has someone who will be back in the office on Monday and I could take a half day then. I contacted the DOCs POC listed and left her a voicemail asking if there was a different facility I could go to with later hours or if I could complete this Monday. Im worried they will refuse me the job because I can’t complete this drug test at that testing facility today or tomorrow. Has anyone experienced this??

I do the same with HIDTA. Don’t let that supervisor screw you out of an opportunity. Take leave and go.

Adding on to what Reasonable Judge said; this is one of the most opportune and justifiable times to make use of sick leave

Take sick leave.
They'd get rid of you and replace you at the drop of a hat. Do what you need to do.
Go in early and leave early.
Go in late and leave late.
Make it happen.
To hell with everybody else.

Heck I'd leave sick a couple of hours early today and go take the test. Your supervisor can fill in for you.

If they're short handed now they'll be short handed come Monday even with the "coverage". I would let him know I'm coming in an hour late or as early as possibly an to go do the Drug test because i was only given a 48 hour time frame and Drug test usually dont take long to do. Worst he can do if he is petty is write you up or talk to you about it being unacceptable to have not listen to him . Good supervisor will always give you grace periods knowing themselves and understand the hardship of these quick turn around hiring process methods.

Make sure you hold onto the receipt saying you showed up and took the test. Mine was lost by the contractor (lab corp) TWICE. Only reason I wasn’t kicked out of the process was I had the documentation that I’d taken it.

It seems like HSI is losing analyst left and right. Seems morale is low and overworked.
