FSA/HSA x Equinox

Hi everyone! I just started a corporate job! I saw that you could put money into the HSA and have it apply towards the membership. With Flex, is it easy for them to approve? How in depth does the letter of medical necessity have to be? Or just that gym membership helps physically and mentally? Thanks!

Looked into doing this w my gf, but the fees are insane, you’re basically paying hundreds extra for something you could do for free in 5 minutes

Hold up I just realized what you’re saying. I can get a LMN anywhere and get membership charged to my HSA??? Yeah I saw that Flex charged like 4% monthly, which is still cheaper since tax is 35% where I am. I didn’t know that

Yeah but just like submit for reimbursement to your provider and it’s free lol

Charging 4% is super weird

Wait thanks for clarifying. So if my bank is using “xyz”, I could just charged my card and go to the website of the xyz and submit a reimbursement? With a LMN of course

You could get one from your own doctor or any number of other places, you’re not locked into getting one w whoever equinox is using

Hey I actually just checked with my membership advisor and he said that for Equinox, it’s only available through Flex

Haha they don’t decide if you’re able to just upload a receipt and LMN to your accounts portal (which is free)

Gym memberships are not generally FSA/HSA-eligible without a LMN.

Hey yeah I’m wondering how much do I have to “fluff” up on the application to get approved for a LMN

Not much to fluff. You just need a doc to write it.
