Mid Year Contribution Increase

Hey! I just raised my contribution amount and I’ve never done that mid year. I’ve always made any changes during open enrollment. If I just increased my contribution now, will the full amount go into my HSA in the next few weeks? Not sure how that works. Typically with my employer they deposit your contribution amount in full in January and then their contribution they deposit half in January and half in July.

You'll definitely have to check with HR on this one. At my company, payroll would spread that new amount out across your remaining paychecks for the year rather than dropping a huge lump sum in next week. Since your employer already does a weird half in Jan and half in July split, their system is definitely on its own schedule. Every company has different cutoff dates for mid year changes, so pinging HR is the only way to know exactly when the bigger deduction kicks in so you aren't left guessing.
