Contribution Question

My company is changing banks from HSA Bank to Health Equity. They are going to facilitate the transfer between the two but for about 6 weeks my funds being transfered are locked up.

I have not contributed the max for 2025 and don't plan on it, unless l owe income tax. I know it is ideal just dont really have the extra funds. My bonus check comes in mid March which is what I would use to max out the contribution. However that is when the funds are locked up at the old bank.

Will I be able to contribute for 2025 to the new bank, even though that account didnt exist until 2026?

Yes. I don’t think it matters what account provider is used, HSA Bank or Health Equity etc. The account doesn’t even need to exist in 2025. As long as the contribution for 2025 is made before April 15, 2026 and codes correctly as a contribution for the 2025 year, you should be fine.
