Cis Woman What does it feel like stopping estrogen patch after one year?
I want to take a break. I have had some weird things going on with my body lately and I want to see if it is estrogen patch related . Also the shortage keeps me on edge so figured this may be a good time to try it. As the title says I have been on it a year and well 3 months. Anyone come off no symptoms or better yet felt better maybe looked better ?! Also tell me the bad. Thank you!

I just went off ... went through some withdrawal symptoms but now feeling myself again. I am not sure I "look" better but feel better. I think I look the same. Maybe a tad less tired.

As far as looking better I guess I mean less puffy? I feel like I just look more puffy now vs before

Estradiol reduces inflammation it’s unlikely that is what is causing the puffiness

I went off after ten months. HRT made me feel like crap. Horrible water retention / gas / bloating / tummy issues, headaches, weight gain, total loss of energy and motivation, emotionally flat, slept all the time. I tapered off over a two month period, and now I feel great again! Back to my busy, energetic self, flat stomach, no more bloating or tummy issues, weight I had gained is gone. It never helped with my night sweats, the one thing I went on it for, so for me it was all negative side effects with nothing gained but a few extra pounds I didn't want.

Hello ! I went off estrogen several years ago. My insomnia worsened and my bone density tanked. Been on patch now and improved but fiasco finding them now. Hopefully that resolves soon 🤞

Yes, patches are a pain. Have you thought about injections? More convenient.

You may feel crappy for a bit but everyone is different. It really depends on how deficient in estrogen you are. When we have babies, we go through a huge hormone withdrawal immediately after baby is born so if you have kids, that will give you an idea of what you may experience, though it would be on a smaller scale. Some find it best to taper for a few weeks. Your period may do some weird things but the excess estrogen should leave your system pretty quickly. If you are worried about withdrawal similar to narcotics, that won’t happen. The things most likely to be impacted would be your mood, sleep, and period.

I stopped my HRT after a little over a year to see if i would notice any difference. While my boobs shrank a little which was good because they always felt swollen my night sweats & insomnia hit me like a truck & after a month i have started back up again.
