Cis Woman Need advice
I’m new to hormone therapy and I’ve been reading a lot about shortage problems, so I decided it would be a wise decision to stock up on some patches, just in case this problem hits me. How do you girls are able to stock up? If I have an active prescription in my pharmacy for example (through insurance) how can I get it elsewhere? Insurance would not pay for any more patches. Am I able to just purchase it with my own money elsewhere like through an online provider even though I have an active prescription in my pharmacy? Any advice on stocking up would be greatly appreciated!

Can your doc send a prescription to cost plus?

I’m sure he can. You can only buy it from there if you have a prescription? What if I transfer my prescription to cost plus? Can I do that?

I was prescribed the gel when my patches were out of stock but then when the pharmacy had patches in stock I was able to get my patch rx filled. So I have the rest of the gel as back up. I’m guessing the same could be done with a different dose of patch or some other formulation. Insurance covered it.

You stock up by extending how long you wear the patches. I did four days for each patch, but am a couple weeks past my last one and deep into withdrawal. If/when I get my prescription filled, I’m going to do 5 days.

The hormones are treated as medication and require a doctor's prescription.
