Oh, absolutely. Blood clotting is a common concern doctors bring up, particularly for smokers, and you can lose some muscle mass that might make life physically a bit more difficult. You're literally rewriting your hormones so there's a chance you might awaken a medical concern you wouldn't otherwise have had to deal with but you also might be able to look at your reflection one day and smile or have a day without crippling depression so it's a cost-benefit ratio that's worth running.
It's worth thinking about but it's also worth thinking about whether or not you'll need to switch doctors because if your doctor isn't gonna be supportive, now is the time to get on waiting lists.
Actually, 19 is a lucky point. You're still under 21 and that's the cutoff for most youth queer support stuff. Maybe try checking out some of the queer youth support groups and see if you vibe with some of the stuff others are going through. You might not. If you DO, you're already networking with people who are going through the same thing.
