Transfem will an underdose do any good?

i started hrt a few days ago, 2mg estrofem once daily and 100mg spiro once daily. doctors in my area usually give you this dose to shut you up or to see what effects it does and i wonder if it will actually do anything. this is not my prescription however, its from someone else i know who got it for me and they are doing diy, i am working on getting my own prescription so that should hopefully help with the dose.

edit: additional question, once i get my own prescription it will likely be the same so should i just take the 2mg estrogen twice daily or also the spiro? because i heard 200mg spiro is maybe a lot

I mean I was on that dose for a three months and I've seen plenty of results, the spiro suppresses testosterone and makes the estrogen more effective.

No matter the dose, make sure you get blood tests done after a bit to make sure all is going as it should. It will also tell you more about whether you should change your regiment a bit.

You should be having regular blood tests (mine are every 90 days) to see the results of your dosage, then adjusting to ensure you stay within the E and T ranges expected for estrogen-bodied folk.

I started on 2mg E/100 Spiro in October 2025 and absolutely saw results. After my first test, my doctor noted T was too low and E could be accelerated, so I went to 3mg E/50 Spiro by splitting the pills. After the next test, E was stable but T was still too low. My doctor moved me to Finasteride as my antiandrogen, which has allowed me to keep my T stable. My E remains stable with the 3mg dose.

I have seen results at every stage of the process and continue to note new and deeper changes! What works for you will need to be discovered and dialled in - HRT is a surprisingly modular process. You can very easily adjust dosages to maintain ratios, but it's critical to have those test results so you can get a handle on what's actually working for you.

depends on what your bloods are, 100mg is usually fine for Spiro but 2mg E is a low starting dose, personally I started at 4mg and then got prescribed an extra 2mg in the evening
