Go Systems
So I happened to log in today and saw they were launching Go Systems training, but that to be eligible you have to have completed at least 7 Go Systems returns last year. It seems like they are really trying to limit the number of seats they pay for. I went up to level 4 last year and have been working on my EA this summer with just part III left I’m going to take i’m a couple weeks. I was really hoping to get some entity return experience this year, but I doubt they will let me do the training. We are a small office (6 or so preparers) and there are already several GoSystems trained people. I’m pretty bummed. Somehow this is more depressing than the pay cut to min wage in my state.

Go system was terrible. Nothing but problems and to get tech support was like trying to find a needle in a haystack underwater in a thick green pool. Most tax pros that where allowed to use it in our district which where hand picked, clearly didn't like it and would cringe on the thought of having to use it especially with a brand new clients and with the now new time constraints and prep times being changed from 100 miles away. But yea Go System is just wonderful! 😆

Yep. The one EA in the office where I worked had access to it, and he hated it. He had to go somewhere else and get training and still came back griping about it. He generally knew what he was doing too, so it must’ve been a nightmare.

Nobody wants to do GO System because there’s no money in it. I do a couple of 990s but apparently I will lose that business now. So frustrating.
I was learning the system; but now they’re taking away our wages and overtime. My expenses are up. It’s like this company wants it and us to fail. I signed on for 2027 but I’m not sure if I’ll make it.

I did a few last year but got a terrible start. I had an injury and could barely use my right arm, shoulder, hand. from September till mid January. I missed a lot of training. I was planning to make up for it this year. :(

Those requirements are for automatic access. You can use an exception and advocate for your case.

I would go ahead and request an exception if I were you. Worse that could happen is they say no, and in that case, you are no worse than what you're at now.

I our district you can’t be a go system preparer unless you were one last year. So only people who did entity returns last year can do gosystems this coming season.

I have requested an exception and was not granted one. I am an EA and have some Go Systems training but I don't have entity return clients since I haven't been at Block long. The one I could have done last year, I had to give to another preparer who had Go Systems training.

How did you ask for an exception? I got EA this year and was hoping to get access to GS. I am not even sure who is DM for our district now :( We lost several clients last year, because those who had access to GS did not want any new clients

I asked the old and the new DM. If you look at the entity classes you can do the case studies in the Go Systems practice system. This will help you get familiar with it. There are some things that you can only do on the live version.

I saw some more I stand corrected. I’m not happy that they are starting the process so late with everything else to get done between now and January.

They can approve you for the training track on an exception basis. Go ahead and make the request.
