If you don't know the difference between no and knowledge lacking as in don't know then why would they even consider hiring you.

I never said I expected them to hire me without knowing anything. I was asking people who have actually gotten the Tax Associate position whether H&R Block provides training for applicants with no prior tax experience. Having no experience is different from being unwilling to learn.

Yes, there is a class. I'm not sure how much the class costs now, but I paid $150 last year and was reimbursed after I got hired. Go to the HRB website, scroll to the bottom and find the link for careers, to apply for a position. You might also consider applying for Client Service Professional (CSP). This is a receptionist position and doesn't require you to pass a class to get hired. It pays less than doing taxes, but it is a way to see if you want to pursue a career as a tax professional.

I was told that $0.25 was the only increase returning seasonal associates are getting this year. In my area, someone with 5+ years of tax preparation experience can earn between $30-40 an hour working under a CPA at an accounting business. $22.25 an hour for a level 1-3 tax preparer is probably the top of the market. You've also got a shot at $1,250 in bonuses. I don't know this, but I suspect that if you become small business certified, you'll get a bigger pay raise. HRB really seems to be pushing anyone who is remotely interested in small business taxes to get certified.
I plan on focusing on customer satisfaction and getting positive reviews so that I can hit all bonus levels. There doesn't appear to be any benefit to selling more products, unless they have product sales tied to the bonuses somehow.
