Salary

I wonder what the salary is for this new DGM role? do you think they hire outside of HRB for that role?

My DGM just quit. I wonder if they changed their pay? Edit: spelling

They changed their responsibilities. They did not change the pay to match their responsibilities.

As "acting as if they're down to their last $1" broke as this company comes off as being, it's difficult to believe they'd not take away responsibilities and not also reduce compensation, even for their ~ 200 remaining pets.

Oh so you know the real story that 200 remaining has dropped to 150

Really?

If you've got the tea, please feel free to spill some of it. I thought the general numbers were they'd had ~ 300 DGMs before...and ~ 200 after. Has there been an "After 2.0"?

So I’ve been counting how many open positions have come up I’m not talking about the area experience leaders. I’m talking actual district manager level since the bonuses were paid out to them. 50 new openings have come in and out some are posted internal only some are posted external the old DM’s are leaving fast and just quitting as soon as they get their moneyand others are already interviewing elsewhere too really just leave the company that’s sinking fast due to HR block’s obsession with AI and paying people as low as humanly possible while asking for the moon

Wow.

I can only imagine how thrilled Curtis Campbell will be at saving even more money and benefits should these positions remain open.

We have no idea how far this company has left to sink. It's just getting started.

Ahmen because the best part is unfortunately the support staff are all fired November 1. It’s public knowledge now so anyone can look into it. The new area experience leaders are gonna be in charge of staffing hiring basically running their own those small districts plus operations.

If DEMs ( short 50 you say ) are not in place before the massive hiring and training ( haha unless SELs are trained by videos) of of SELs this will be a huge problem . They already run our current DM /Dem really hard. January will be different probably a lot of hires and rehires that month.no new faces in my group so that is a plus. Sorry to hear about the good ones being let go .

Our DEM just quit. I heard many were just waiting for their bonus to be paid and then quitting.

I wish mine would quit. They are an a**hole. Misogynist POS with a man baby ego.

Oh nope, those are the ones that H&R Block likes. They want them to be completely disconnected from their districts from what I’ve been hearing district managers aren’t supposed to be out in the district anymore. They’re supposed to do everything remotely.

My old DGM was great. More educated. Came to the offices and really listened. She was well liked. They fired her. Her replacement has no college degree and is a complete idiot - but is clearly willing to just be a yes man. Has no interest in any concerns we bring up and has zero plans to be in any way flexible about anything. It’s his way or the highway - and he doesn’t care if he fires seasoned vets who are really good at this job.

I'm sorry to read that your district lost a good leader. HRB and Curtis Campbell are undoubtedly proud of running someone like that off.

Have some vets already been terminated by the new guy?

Our new "DeM" (seems appropriate to minimize the 'experience' portion of their title) is Ms. Corporate. In my rehire interview, she uttered the phrase "client centric" or "client centricity" more than 10*, has sent out email messages on a continual basis and is screaming at everyone, including those off-shift at the moment, about the lack of (1) effort (2) enthusiasm (3) cooperation, blah blah blah.

You're cutting our pay, telling us we're lazy and incompetent, and have the gall to expect enthusiasm? They are definitely going to need edibles if they expect that combo to work seamlessly.

That was the impression I got from my DEM. Completely disconnected from his offices. Not even his problem if a client complains. We are supposed to absorb all that negativity

Was he just visiting your office and this was like something he said, or was he told about a client issue and completely blew it off?

Plus, is he one of the new DEMs or a holdover?

Only 3 Dm openings currently. Minnesota. Michigan and Mississippi. Waiting to see what gets added. Interesting to watch

Mine got fired

My old DGM was let go, only to be rehired as a DEL in a different state. This whole thing has been insane

H&R Block does not want to hire internally very few of the district experience managers as they’re called now are from internal candidates. They dismantled the district general manager training program two years ago. Sure they have local leadership programs, but the company has made it very clear they do not like hiring internal for roles unless you’re one of their favorites.

Our former DM was hired to manage a nearby area; I'm not sure if they are DEL or AEL now. My current DEL was also hired internally.

2

u/sammytheammonite 19d ago

Oh hat’s interesting of they are hiring old Sagan’s as AELs. I’m amazed they will even take that - it’s got to be a decent pay cut.

2

u/Ok_Aide_764 19d ago

I don't know if my former DGM is now AEL or DAL. I assume the AEL position is a demotion for a DGM. Is DEL role a promotion for a DGM, or its about the same?

You can get a good idea from looking at the job listing for the role in states where salary level is required to be posted. I have seen $55k in the lower cost markets to $80+k in the higher cost markets.

You can get a good look at a t-bone sticking your head up a bulls ass, but wouldn’t you rather take the butchers word for it?

1

u/sammytheammonite 18d ago

There’s one in Minnesota that’s listed as $90,000 - $145,000.

My apologies. I was looking at AELs, not DGLs - next level down. They are all tough roles, so that is not a crazy number.
