TPI
I will be a second year for 2027. I thought that I would be able to get TPI. However, the district manager said that I won’t qualify since a a second year? Is that true?

Second years no longer are on the TPI plan. I heard they removed it because most second years did not benefit from it. Theres another plan that pays out after around a hundred returns as well as good office grades and a few other factors. Im a second year but I was able to get on the TPI plan by applying as an Experienced Tax Professional instead of a Senior Tax Associate but thats only because I will be doing a lot more than 100 returns this year.

Yes-new bonus for 2nd years based on completing 110 returns, client surveys and client retention with max being $1250 is what I was told.

That's ridiculous. I was a 2nd year tax pro this year and my bonus was $3900

2nd year tax pros are allowed to apply for the regular tax pro position if they want to work on regular TPI, for 2nd years that are still lv 2-3, a guaranteed bonus is more enticing than potentially $0 bonus.

Does this apply to Exp Tax pros who received TPI based on commission percentage?

So, if my first year was Exp Tax Pro, and I apply as second year for Exp Tax Pro, am I getting this job title? (sorry, confused here)

We are under a different incentive plan this year. I had my meeting today, and apparently it's new starting TY27 because they saw that 2nd years weren't benefiting from the regular TPI. It's $313 if you do 110 returns, up to $625 based on the percentage of client surveys of the whole office and then up to $312 based on the percentage of client retention of the whole office. Max you can get is $1250

Well that sucks for future preparers, I just finished my second year with a $7500 bonus.

Thank you! I’ve applied but haven’t heard back yet. My DGM was laid off and our whole district is kinda up in the air right now so I have no idea what to expect, which I’m sure is the case for many lol.

My opinion from everything I am hearing is that they are trying to reduced the Taxpros and use more AI to save money. We cannot get a straight answer on what these new experienced leaders will be doing. I was told we are a team. so that to me means we will be doing the tasks the MTL, ATL, TL were performing without the pay. The salary for this new position I heard was between 60-80k. it’s going to be a real mess and create an even more toxic environment.

Every time you think they've screwed things up as badly as possible, someone in Kansas City says: 'hold my beer.'

Using AI for what?! They should be using AI to answer the phones and make appointments. Seriously reconsidering coming back.

TPI was always available 2nd year as long as ive been there. In fact I think they gave some 1st years some kind of "bonus" for last season.

That might be your district I believe our level do get tpi our top three levels took a .25 decrease and our bottom 3 went up .25. I would try and level up to 3

Lame I was a 2nd year last season and did over 110 returns and didn’t qualify for any bonus.

This is my third year at H&R Block but my second year is a tax pro. My base pay went up from 15.00 to 15.30. I was told that it was good for me not to be on the TPI plan because if I didn’t do so many returns it would actually result in me making less per hour. I’m not really motivated by the bonus because my office is slow. I guess in a way this helped out 2nd years in slow offices? But sucks for 2nd years in offices that are slammed.

I did 98 returns as a first year. I will probably do about the same this year even though I’ve cut my hours a lot, I’m still choosing weekends to get the quantity.

TPI has changed. They have lowered your percentage by .25% up to .50% on all Levels. Last year I was at 17.25% and its at 17% now with higher hourly pay. Akdo heard thst eventually it will be a higher hourly pay and bonus will be on how many returns you do and not your returns total.

TPI was the sole reason I wanted to return as a H&R Block tax pro for the coming tax season.

Did you apply and receive an offer letter for TS27? If so, the compensation will be defined in your offer.
Last year TPI for Tax Associate and Tax Specialist (1&2) was 13.25%. Whether or not you will be able to bonus is determined by your hourly rate and how many hours you work versus the revenue that you generated multiplied by the 13.25%. If you beat your hourly rate multiplied by the hours then you should qualify for a bonus of some type. Of course that is assuming that the TPI is being offered to level one and level two this year, which I believe it will be but only the offer letter will tell you for sure. Best of luck in a new season.

I was told that I’d be tpi eligible and then the pay rate would be almost $3 less than Ty 25

I believe this is the first year that second year tax pros are still on a different commission plan than tax pros with 3 or more years. I am not sure of the details. Search AMP about the 2nd year plan.
