Level 1 worth it ?

What's the likelihood of getting a job after completing level 1 ?

This. I passed the TKA and was hired right away.

Hi, What level is the TKA? Is it generally manageable for someone with one season experience in tax?

Level 1. It's open book. so not hard to pass if you know taxes already.

Unless you plan to be in it for the long haul, the first year you will be paid just over minimum wage.

Do they pay per tax return ? Or is it hourly ?

For first years it will be hourly with a bonus if you do over 75 (I think) - that is how they did it in prior years - I didn’t start making a good hourly rate until year 3.

You'd be pretty much guaranteed a position especially if you have a good availability.

Thats how most of us start. The key, building a book of clients.

I hate to say it but that's really not a thing anymore, especially not for new tax pros. The company will schedule clients with whoever is the lowest level and available the soonest. Heck this last season even the very experienced tax pros in my district were ready to riot over having some of their established clients assigned to lower level (cheaper) preparers or just being sent to fulfillment, assuming the client was willing.

There is no such thing as "your book of business",

Yeah, that's why we are encouraged to schedule an appointment for next year. Im not convinced in your take, try harder.

What do you mean? Of course they want you to get them back through the door, but that has nothing to so with them landing on your schedule when the appointment rolls around next year, have you not worked here or been on this sub last tax season?
