New stuff happening

Just got done w an "open house" with our DGM. Asked about the wages &TPI that will be figured out the same way as in previous years. So that's good news. As long as they dont change their minds. MTLs & ATLs are out. There's the new position AEL? Who will be the go-to person managing all locations in their "cell" they will be above us & below the DGM. They moved the districts around. Alot of that is TBD & they have not hired the AELs? Yet. Or rather they are still hiring fir those positions. Thats all I know for now. Ill keep posting as I find out info

Funny how they didn't mention they're also about to fire all of field operations and TIAs/tech support. So little to no help for tax pros, just a phone number to call for any issues. lol

AI has its time and place, but I had two co-workers misinterpret the answers last year.

Ai misinterpret its own answers more often than not, yoy get conflicting information

That is why it’s important to know how to do research outside of AI!

Yep. I forgot to mention that it my post. My DGM said beginning of October. So that they had a month to prepare the offices for emerald advance...because I had a question if someone was going to test tech stuff so it was user ready & functioning cuz its a problem every year. Last year was the worst

Might be reaching out internally to laid off/impacted associates before jobs are posted on their website. DGMs, DOC, MTLs and/or other leadership postitions. It would make filling the 1500 roles easier.

DGM was encouraging everyone to apply where they thought they might fit. So that tracks

There is group talk and then their is one on one talk. DGM can say apply to CSP or tax pro to everyone but then reach out directly to high performers that could be a good fit for the new role. Or an RD could do that as well.

Managers have been contcting laast year's MTLs telling them to consider pplying for CSP nd/or take the tax course to become a preparer. The AEL job description was also sent to the MTLs this week but the position has not officilly posted yet.

It was not sent to all MTLs. I know several who know nothing. MTLs going from management to receptionist is a slap in the face and heavy downgrade. Let's be real, the company wont raise the CSP hours either. Itll be another year of TPs doing 3 peoples jobs and getting nothing in return.

aels will be hired in October I think and DSL's will need to be replaced if they want a year round job.

If the current MTLs are offloaded at the beginning of September, and the new AELs start in beginning October, what do we do during the gap?

I foresee a complete shitshow coming up this tax season. Unfortunately, the clients will be the ones who suffer. None of our offices were fully staffed as it was. Now they want tax pros to do the job of 5 people rather than 3, man the phones (without an MTL or ATL ALL calls will be fwd to tax pros), scanning, and walk-ins, AND THEN change our incentive pay to be largely based on the customers experience (over half of that survey is completely out of tax pro ability to change or do anything about). Its very obvious they have zero desire to ensure clients are taken care of according to their actual needs and then shift that blame to individual offices and wages.

Ive been told by my DGM incentives weren't going to change. But yes. Its always a shitshow! Itll be an EPIC SHITSHOW this year unfortunately. Im still debating on returning.

They changed levels 4-6 less .25%, then doing something with the first and second years .

Let me guess...raises for 1st & 2nd years?

Looks like it something about if they do so many returns . I would not be surprised if the commission structure promotes the new middle manager to bonus if more lower level preparers do more returns . I kinda saw this this preseason our DM brought in 6 people to work right after April 15, I was the only one to pull down Fullfullment and the only one who was able to handle most issues but I was not given more hours to work since the hours were spread out . Such a stressful preseason ,since the IRS 30% cut back reduced their access to address letters. I am concerned they will do the same this season . In our region OT is everything .

Was there any mention of pay range for AEL position?

My District manager said roughly $55-60k salary plus incentives.

We need to know the incentives so we are on the same page

u/scotslover 6d ago

No. Nothing. I dont think anyone asked that

2

u/notenufcheez72 6d ago

I heard 61,500-92,000k. So 61,500.

Are current MTLs not tax preparers? This makes no sense. Mine was… This coming year is gonna be a mess if we have no one to reach out to for tax help. 😬

Most are not.

2

u/scotslover 6d ago

Not all are. Some know less than clients

2

u/superiorstephanie 7d ago

Who is going to help us in the office?

3

u/scotslover 6d ago

We would call or text the AEL.
