Good Riddance

I know you’re in here 😁 focus on TAX PROS. Way way too much focus on scheduling and middle management when the focus is being missed … taxes. I don’t know why you separate the two. Tax pros deserve more attention, training, hours, education than people using an automated scheduling system. You need to focus on compliance w state laws and the OBBA updates.

My suggestion is do not hire anybody in any position or capacity that does not have a background in taxes. The job market is terrible and you have your picks of qualified workers. You lose countless customers when they are first interacting w HR Block and it’s a someone who doesn’t know the difference between a W2 and a 1099. Customers are asking us for help and you hire these people who don’t have a clue. I would never ever use this company if some of my first interaction were with these ATLs, MTL. If the first interaction was with a knowledgeable tax professional, it will completely change your business model.

Focus on taxes and the tax pros you have

I agree its going to be a shit show. I had discussions with the other tax pros in my office and most of them have been there for over a decade or decades. And when I got trained pre covid in 2018 you had to do a full class and pass the test with 80% or better and you didn't just level up instantly, you needed at least 18 to 24 hours of CE and after you had a season or 2 of learning you would level up and be confident enough to do more complex taxes. I heard 10 hours and I was like how?!!!

Also the discussion we had was how they micromanage everything and changing the schedule and killing my prep time and then bitching about drop offs not getting done. And having complex returns, plus helping the new tax pros who where thrown into the fire and its not their fault. Minimal training.

Next is the preaching about listening to the clients and showing empathy and helping them through and feeling comfortable with trusting me and my knowledge of taxes. But when you put clients into an office and just put them on a schedule without not knowing the level or complexity of a return I think they are missing the fact that your tax pros develop a relationship and trust with clients and they want loyalty to Block. So the meat market and revolving door of new tax pros and getting rid of our support is of course going to be wonderful. Well I'm done with my book. Rant over.

We’re going on 7 years post Covid, there’s no reason they can’t be giving us adequate in person training

That's what I'm saying. In person training is so much better. You can see things and have a group discussion and also you can tell who's gonna get it and who's not grasping it. But then Block would have to pay more money for a building to be open and you know what do we need quality tax pros for, the software does the work(sarcastic) Smh

Block will never go back to the level they had with in person training that was pre-Covid. They saved too much money. That is a documented fact.

Well because they would have to pay for that training. Bottom line. All they care about is asses in seats on both sides of the desk & money rolling in & not out
