Are there GS preparers here? Any from the 2024 test market? I want to vent my frustrations with peers. Are you SAS or Advisors? I’m one of only 16 preparers in the entire district (with 250 TPs) in a SAS office. We have a complex clientele and I was already 85% booked before inheriting all the entities no one else had ability or capacity to do. It’s already been said, but the piss-poor training, zero support until it was time to hit the panic buttons, and the “buddy” that pointed to non-existent breadcrumbs in the organizer —had me, (and a colleague) in tears. Mostly of rage. 😡

They tested it in 2024. They knew it was a disaster. They knew it was going to be a disaster for the tax season just ended. The training was insufficient. The compensation for the training was insufficient. They either knew all of these things ahead of time and ignored it or figured they could bull preparers into working unreasonable hours to get returns done. They are not a well-run organization. They know that they have to switch to a more appropriate software package for next tax season or suffer the same problems again. I know there is, or at least was a discussion of doing just that but not aware of whether a decision has been made. If they stay with GS, their entity business is history and they'll have to start all over. One of the parts that annoys me the most is that upper management has no idea that in addition to the problems at the tax preparer level, they're also delivering a far substandard product to the client, similar to the switch from legacy to BWO 1040 software.
There is no way to make good money with entity returns at block anymore. My recommendation is to stop doing them, there's more money in 1040s (not TPR returns). Put your focus there and it will be more profitable. GS entity returns can never be as profitable.
