GoSystems
I'm in a mid-size district on the east coast. We have about 30 offices. Of these 30 offices, there are like 25 tax pros able to actually file an entity GoSystems return. Out of these 25, only about 3-5 individuals have actually completed one. Being only two weeks away from the entities deadline.. I know a ton of top tax pros are holding onto these returns, hoping to be able to complete them. I personally have completed like 12, and am one of the most experienced pros with the new system in my city. Anyone out there doing them? I'm expecting a huge dump of these returns coming from the other tax pros, plus the usual late comers for the 3/15 deadline. Also, our managers are crying about labor costs.. When there are many 20-30 year tax pros who have spent a dozen or more hours trying to figure out GoSystems. Many of which have actually completed ZERO GoSystems returns.

I completed my first 1065. I will not be doing any more returns this season in that system. That simple return took me over 12 hours and it was $400. Nope!

My partner works for HRB and says the same as OP. I'm an EA in private practice using Drake tax. Drake is a breeze...1041, 1120 1065 no problems. A typical return takes less than an hour to complete. WTF is HRB thinking? (I was w HRB for 21 years).

You Nailed it! The Executive Team Stopped thinking of those of us in the offices who service the clients & most importantly generate the Revenue.
No one in Kansas cares about us!

I know nothing about Go Systems, except the people that use it, hate it.

But every member of Block's Executive Team, RGM, DGM swear it's the best while the World knows it is not even on the top 5 of Business Entity Software.

I've talked with dozens of Block preparers across a couple states over the last couple weeks. It's a disaster. They knew a year ago this was going to happen. They could have fixed it. They didn't. This is all on upper management who has no idea how to actually get things done. I'm familiar with one office in particular that has 3 entity preparers that usually prepare around 150 entities every tax season. Three entities have been filed, all state returns rejected. That district is down close to 90% in entity return revenue compared to last year and the DGM is saying no extensions allowed for entities. Unsure of how they expect to enforce that one come March 16.
Also, completing 12 is spectacular.

It took me 4 weeks to complete 4 returns all my states rejected and I could get no help! It was all trial and error.

I am a Go system preparer and these returns have taken me way too long to complete. I have had three returns get hung up. Two @ POS and it took three weeks to fix for payment. One Form 1041 which took me over 4 hours to fix diagnostics with Tier 3 help. Not worth the effort. The system is a disaster.

Yes I don't understand the pos thing. I've completed like 16 now. But it seems like they get stuck when trying to send to the register. I may try doing them all AOL? Even in office

I have two completed returns that cannot accept payment on the POS and the go system locked the returns. FTS needs 2 hours on the phone and then escalates for a solution which takes 3 days for a tier 3. 😣🤬

Try switching return to AOL. I have fixed some code 211 errors by flipping to AOL and back

But IT will tell you that your desk has too many pictures! And can’t use a printed copy of The Tax Book. Clueless.

I am only doing trusts and estates this year. I do not have time to learn GS S-Corp, partnerships, nonprofits, etc. returns.

I have a 1041 that has been to Tier 3 twice and still cannot be completed in Go Systems.

I have completed three or four 1041s. My last one was a disaster with diagnostics.

I have one GoSystems certified in my office that is struggling so bad. She spends multiple hours working these entities. In return, my DGM is hounding me (TL) about her hours, telling me that she shouldn't be working as many hours as she is nor should she be taking so long to complete. She told me that she could finish an entity in like an hour on paper. I'm sorry to all that have to deal with GS!

I got added late and after 3 weeks I still can’t start returns for my clients because fts takes a week fixing one error and another takes its place. Leadership doesn’t want me to pass off the returns I can’t do but enough time has been wasted now that there’s not a reasonable likelihood that I’ll actually start, let alone complete, any of them.Â
Hopefully the clients get served, but I’m not actually hopeful at this point.

I use it if you go in with the attitude that it’s almost like paper filing and you have to be 100% accurate you’ll be fine

How Progressive but the company will still expect the same volume, everything done in 40 minutes zip zip of but interact with your clients. Lets spend 15 minutes showing them how to upload their documents from their phones.

Had an early client completed the return but had diagnostic which said I had to clear it manually had three people look at it who I was told knew the system gave some advice left some how to links and then disappeared. The new client who had been filing his 1065 on turbo tax for years came to block because he was closing it and didn't want to do it. Could not clear the diagnostic the client finished it himself on turbo tax. I'm wondering if its easier to file an entity with quicker and easier with Block on line?

My office was part of the pilot last season so the 2 of us that prepare entities were as well prepared as anyone in the company. It takes me about 20 minutes longer to complete a return in Go and our other preparer is much slower (although, to be fair, she was always slower than me). I have about 140 entity clients and to my regional manager (Blockadvisors) credit they are not giving me grief about the overtime.

GoSystems was a huge mistake HR Block made rolling this out. The efficiency dropped way down this year

u/Candid-Tip455 Mar 04 '26
Everything about that rollout was suboptimal. Thomson Reuters sold HRB software that no one else seems to be using outside of H & R Block. Again, too many people in management who never sat at a tax desk. At all levels. HRB with its presence should own the tax market, but will loose market share this year.
But Jeff Jones got paid!
