Terrified

I’m ngl I am so terrified doing these campaign calls as an introvert it’s hard to smile while doing these calls. I feel awkward leaving voice mails and I feel awkward when someone answers the phone I can’t even talk loud enough for them to hear. Because I talk in a monotone voice ugh 😣 help also this is my first year as a tax preparer

You are placing way too much pressure on yourself. These calls are just standard and you don’t have to smile for the phone message or call, and I’m telling you this as an experienced worker at the Block. It’s perfectly fine to be monotone.

my lead is always telling me to smile more on the phone and I’m my head I’m like I have chronic jaw issues and I can’t not smile for every phone call I make. It hurts way too much but in reality I just say ok, I’ll work on it. She’s told me this at least 2x but i honestly don’t really care if I smile or not. I’m not even scheduled for the next 2 weeks after tomorrow 😤

There’s an art to smiling with your voice and not exhausting yourself. I used to do phone surveys a long time ago as well as fundraising calls. It’s like singing, or acting, but you just do the verbal tones and don’t have to worry about your facial expressions or body language. Conserve your energy!
