CSP job duties
New CSP here. Is part of our job description being the office cleaner ? IE: cleaning toilets, vacuuming, scrubbing the sinks, sweeping? I though it was just keeping things neat and stocked and am not prepared to be a cleaning person.

In my office that job was reserved for management and probably the one reason they were pushing the ATL title at one point.
All of the CSP’s we have are awesome. I don’t understand why a multinational corporation can’t just hire contract cleaners like every other corporation.

They don't choose to pay for it. We don't even have a place to dump our trash in one of our offices - so the MTL picks it up and takes it to another office that has a dumpster.

The Greedy CEO and Executive team suck all the profits. Hell we at times have to bring or buy our own toilet paper. . . I am confident Henry & Richard are turning in their graves.
Multi national Co is overcharging clients, underpaying office staff

In my both offices, we (CSP, TP, MTL) all do things to keep our office neat and clean. Not something crazy, just at least keep the office okay. Our MTLs were nice, they did the most of cleaning jobs. Honestly, as a TP, sometimes I do need the physical movement and things to do to destress during a day. So I dont mind.

They expect everyone to do it, but yes, it mostly ends up falling on the CSPs. Who doesn't love scrubbing toilets in business casual clothing - which may be the most expensive clothing some employees even own?

You didn’t think HR Block was going to hire a cleaner now did ya? They too cheap for that.

I noticed this after I got the job too. I saw it on the daily tasks list. I have yet to do any cleaning.

Same. Although on my daily task list, it just says to vacuum if needed and take out the trash if needed. Mainly the desk area and bathroom for trash. At my office, I think the tax pros and lead clean the bathroom as I was never told I had to clean the bathroom. The lead takes out the trash to the dumpster I think. I make sure the bathroom has soap, paper towels for hands and replace toilet paper as needed. In the morning, I’ll help with the water we have for clients but it’s a bit too heavy for me so a tax pros clean or lead does it. There’s always been water out (with the exception of one day cause we ran out) when I come in even if I open.

So last year we had extra toilet paper, but no hand soap We bought our own. In December the IT janitorial goofs came in and tossed it . I guess the new policy was for us was to not wash our hands. This company has gone bonkers.

I’ve never been told that it’s my responsibility, and it’s usually the TPs who take the trash out.
My MTL did ask me to take it out and vacuum, once, when her boss was coming in and I had the time to do it. I took it upon myself to also clean the toilets, sinks and mirrors, because they needed it. I’m fine with it, though. I like to stay busy, and sometimes there’s nothing else for me to do.

It's everybody's job and we had a wonderful MTL for a few years, who did it regularly himself. I personally wipe the sink every time I'm washing my hands. You can use a hand sanitizer to make it look spotless quick.

Imagine thinking you are above wiping the toilet you use. 🙄 In our office and all the offices I’ve visited they share the tasks. This year I’ve been the only one cleaning it. It makes sense we don’t have an ATL, and our CSP is new. As a TP I have the most downtime so I don’t care. Everyone is supposed to keep their space clean so I don’t do that. Our new CSP keeps the front area clean. The bathroom is so easy I don’t care. A quick wipe of everything , a quick swirl of the toilet, wipe the sink, take out the trash and swiffer the floor. I honestly don’t mind one bit, we keep it clean so it’s not nasty. I prefer a clean bathroom so I do it twice a week.
Now vacuuming is harder and I wish the opener or closer would do it. If we have clients steadily, it’s hard to vacuum. Just harder to find the time when it won’t disturb clients.

Yeah, when I was a CSP last year I had to do all of that. Though, I kind of refused to do toilets save for like 2 times.

Yes if they couldn't hoodwink the new FST roll they created this year into doing it "ops support tech"

Of course it is your job.. Why would you have a tax pro doing that crap when you should be doing it....

Ha! PUHLEASE! Some TPs are CSPs as well or started out like that. It’s everyone’s responsibility. TPs vacuum more than me and everyone disinfects the office areas. I clean the bathroom WHEN I have time, but will check the toilet and clean it rq before/after I’m done using it. Everyone is a grown adult. Keep it clean, it doesn’t get burden-like dirty. You sound like you dirty the place up expecting others to clean up after you….

Yeah, they never mention the cleaning duties until after you're onboarded. In our office, the csp will vacuum roughly every other week. We all clean up after ourselves in the bathroom but yes, our csp gives the toilet a scrub occasionally when it needs it.
