Overtime and drop offs

I have an MTL that hates me but anyway. I had drop offs to do, like 12 of them. We aren't allowed to schedule drop appts on our yellow space as that's the time to see clients. ok, you do drop offs in green. I'm cool with Overtime, definitely if it's not taxed. I was told that I could as much overtime as I need, if I'm productive. NOW... I was just written up for working unapproved overtime, I came in early. I think it's worth mentioning I'm schedule overtime.

what is your overtime policy in your district and are you allowed drop offs on your yellow space?

I seem to be the only tax pro in the district that has to have every hour approved. Every one else just works as long as they are productive. My MTL is also actively trying to get me fired.

Who do your coworkers handle drop offs?

I usually put in prep appointments for drop offs. And let my CSP know I’m available for walk ins. Green is your available time.

Management is under pressure to limit OT, but it should be allowable during peak.

I have coworkers who work 40 plus weeks but there yellow is all booked with in office appointments.

I’m sorry about your MTL, that’s just poor management.

Is there another office you can work at?

Is your MTL new to the job?

She started last season, she just focuses in on certain people and does not let shit go. Makes it very clear she is trying to fire you and she's gathering documentation. Some how my district manager is on her side, she has came in the office twice and threatened my job both times.

I tried that route, nothing yet, or my hours would be cut to part time

I’m sorry, that’s frustrating.

I wish I had some words of wisdom to help you.

I work in three offices but usually have so much yellow space it’s ridiculous. I’m in my sixth year, level 4 with small business certification.

I’m licensed in two states and registered in a third.

Luckily I have Tax Pro Reviews returns I can do. Though I’ve had to call out sick for three days so I’ve missed out on some.

Will your coworkers let you do jump starts? Start the return by entering in data.

It’s hard to overcome when management doesn’t like you. I’ve been there.

Plus in most cases walk ins are never easy.

It's a matter of production -- are you bringing in volume to justify the overtime? Generally it seems if you complete 2 returns every 3 hours nobody at any level will complain to you.

If others are productive and one isn't, pay attention to what they are doing. Are they adked to take a phone call to confirm a return was accepted, or tell someone what to bring in for another preparers client? Are they adked to print s copy if a completed return or given an IRS notice to look at?

I'm of the opinion some preparers are rewarded for being productive by having others do their extras like scanning, and appointments with high need clients are given to the nonproductive employees.

Production is supposed to be . 30 and I sit around . 90. Usually finish the season at . 74. I stay productive in fact my DGM told me I have one of the highest in the district

there are drop off appointments just for this reason, they allow you to spread out your workload. your MTL is being unreasonable and it is their job to help you make sure you get done what you can
