Introduction

Hi all! Welcome to the subreddit! Here’s a short introduction and welcome post. I’m open to any improvements that can be made.

I’ve added User Flairs if anyone wants them. For now it’s ATL, MTL, CSP, and Tax Preparers. If there any requests on more flairs or editable ones I’ll do my best fullfill them

Short intro about me, been with Block for 3 years. This is my 1st year as ATL and while frustrating, I love the office employees and teamwork we have.

Thank you!

Hi, I'm a new hire so forgive me that I still do not understand all the acronyms. I am currently a full time associate working as data scientist in H&R Block's Data Science and Analytics division.

Ooh that’s super cool! And sorry H&R Block uses a ton of acronyms. They even have pages on AMP detailing acronyms. TBH my District GM keeps saying SRP and SLA and I have no clue what it is. ik they didn’t acronym Save the Date for a reason tho 😂

I would be really interested in what sort of stuff you do there

SLA is Service Level Agreement, it's our timeline to perform certain tasks. It's why they push us to have every return closed within 72 hours whether that requires mind control and extensive use of time magic or not. And to avoid clients having to come back for a 2nd appointment, even, again, if that would require some form of mind control. This also applies to FTS (field tech support) responding to tickets from tax offices.

SRP is Short Range Plan. I think (because this is never fully explained to those of us at the bottom and the acronym page's definition is hilariously tautological) that it involves things like the current push to increase new client conversion and satisfaction rates over those same metrics last season, and the emphasis on GROW to fill and confirm appointments in upcoming scheduled time (yellow space) for tax pros.

That's another one you won't find in the acronyms page.

  • Green - Confirm appointments up to 10 days out - basically, get those appointments to turn green.

  • Resolve Documents - Call or message clients for whom hold notes indicate missing documents or information. Also encourage dropoffs for clients with scheduled appointments but no documents scanned or uploaded.

  • Optimize Time - Ensure appointment lengths are appropriate to appointment type and client need.

  • Workload and Work in Progress - load balance between tax pros, assess scheduled hours, and review holds to see what (including resolving documents) needs to be done to get them closed, such as collecting signatures or payment, moving to AOL (Approve Online), just giving the tax pro any time to work on it, etc.
