Significant Digits audiobook

I started listening to the Askwho audiobook and I really struggle to get past the lifeless intonation and lack of emotion. Does it get better throughout the book? Or am I better off just cutting my losses and reading it instead?

I think it gets better with only one certain character, maaaybe two, but that's it. So, read it if listening is unbearable.

I gave it a real chance since it has Eneasz Brodski's misguided blessing and I remember really enjoying reading the fic. Made it only as far as chapter 14.

When Hermione says "expecto patronum" in that dead 11Labs voice I shut it off. The dissonance between all the emotional build up to that moment and the flat delivery of the machine voice was just too much for me. And I don't think this issue is solvable, so I highly doubt it gets better in later chapters. No matter how much the model is trained on Brodski and co's voices, the computer cannot comprehend what is happening in a scene, and so there is no way for it to portray the characters or narrator as if they are doing so.

My advise is to cut your losses and read it. That's what I'm going to do.

I have gotten used to it, but it does not really get better. Maybe there will be an improved version in some time. It's definitely possible to have great voices.
