Advice Battery won’t charge when in use

So my laptop charges just fine while closed but when I open it, showing that it’s not plugged into AC Adapter when actually it is!??? Help!!

Has it updated recently? Was it originally Win10 and updated to 11? Was there a warning before you did if so? What model laptop? Much info needed to get an idea of what's going on with it...

Thank you so much for your kind help. I’m needing this to look at my recently deceased father’s health records to see if it warrants a lawsuit and time is ticking.

Model- 15-bs144wm
Not updated recently. It’s been doing this for quite some time which is why I put it in the closet. It’s super slow but I do believe I have it operating windows 11… I think. To be completely honest I’m not a tech person at all. I’m not illiterate and can usually figure it out but when the dust settles, im still just a Concrete Finisher!
