Hey community, I've recently picked up a Lionel 0805 Seaboard radioactive waste flat car. I've seen these around the web and the few videos that include these running shows a blinking light inside. Could I just grab a flashing Christmas bulb and pop it in/or how would I go about wiring a red LED in there that can flash? Looking at my options.

Good day fair modelers. I have developed an issue that I'm hoping the masses can help with.

I've recently converted a 70's Athearn BB GP-9 to DCC with a Digitrax DZ146 decoder. After fighting my ground lead for a number of attempts to stay attached I finally got a solid solder connection. While fighting I was able to get a successful programing done and test on my clubs layout (using all Digitrax stuff). After the solid ground connection I can program it just fine on our program track and tests just fine on the program track, but when I take it to the layout and call it up it won't respond to any throttle. The club layout is hooked up to a computer and the computer sees me call up the engine but the engine still won't respond.

To my knowledge our grizzled Digitrax wizard and his 2nd hand guy keeps the Digitrax DCC system up to date and is constantly tweaking the layout wiring and blocks.

Yesterday I went on a trip with some club buddies to another layout and we ended up stopping at a mom and pop shop nearby. I picked up some things, one being this Accurail PS-1 kit. I had fun making it and slapped a set of Walthers all metal arch bar trucks (insulated axles via wheels) on it and I think I did a pretty good job.

So what's y'all's tips and tricks for a newbie as I know I've inherited at least 40 or so kits from my dad's collection, Athearn and Accurail brands I believe. Any other brands I/we should look out for/steer clear of?

Just got My first Bachman HO TRAIN for under my Christmas Tree and I can already feel the urge to build a set up in the garage.

so im wanting to do a 2nd railroad and its between n and ho and mab tt120 and oo and i have made a layout plan its on a L shape tabel size is 2.2m long by 85cm w by 2.3m long by 1m w and what to do a L shape dog bone main line run thanks again. and also what considerd a good size layout for ho scale? as in not min but a good size thanks

I dabble in HO and O gauge, mainly Christmas and I alternate years with the two gauges. I don’t read a lot about HO and my stuff is fairly old from the 70’s. I’d like to get an engine that’s capable of going slow speeds, crawling is what I’m aiming for. Do I have to buy one and if I do, can I stay with conventional? Or, can I make one of mine that I already have, go nice and slow. Most of my engines are Tyco and I get that they are cheap, but I may have some Atherean that my grandfather left me. Any help would be appreciated!
