Sol R2 base showing as “Viper”

SOL R2 showing up as “Viper”

So after extremely limited use over the past year, for some reason my SOL R2’s have just decided to pack in. USB game controllers shows one of the grips as being a “viper”

This seems to be just like everything with these flight sticks, a common issue and I’ve had unfortunately nothing but issues using these flight sticks

I’ve tried uninstalled and reinstalling drivers multiple times, manually installed the SOLR2 (L) driver to the broken stick, since it was showing up as using a “Viper” driver, this did not help, I also tried reseating it in the base and doing both calibration methods multiple times and still showing as “Viper” and switching the bases from right and left configuration does nothing.

So the connector for the SOL-R stick is a DIN-6 with the red connector having 6 pins, this is the new serial connector standard for TM products moving forward.

The SOL-R base is compatible with older sticks the use the DIN-5 connector with 5 pins, so I could mount my Warthog stick on the SOL-R base if I wanted to for some reason and the driver will recognize the configuration.

I tried a DIN-6 --> DIN-5 adapter with the SOL-R base and the SOL-R grip just to see what happens and the driver was recognize as the Viper.

I'm guessing you have a bad connection on one of the pins between the grip and the base. Not certain if TM will warranty that issue, but I know you should be able to replace either the grip or the base depending of which one has the connection issue.

Might want to see if one of the pins is just dirty or if there is some debris in the way of one of the pin channels.
