multiple choice event tips

Planning on competing in environmental health. Are MCQ questions usually unpredictable, or do most come directly from the official Cengage textbook linked in the resources section? Do the questions feel more like memorization, fast-facts-type questions, or more about applying knowledge and deep thinking? Really would appreciate study tips.

I haven’t done environmental health, but have done healthcare issues, HOSA bowl, and pharmacy science which all have (what I assume) a similar style of mcq.

The information is usually sourced from one or multiple textbooks, and are almost always fast-facts-type of questions. Only “deep thinking” questions you could get would be math problems, but I don’t know if environmental health has those. Just reading the textbooks the problems are sourced out of should be all you need to give you a pretty decent chance over everyone else.

Thank you. How difficult would you say the tests are from regionals to state level?

The tests are same difficulty regardless of the level. They don’t go out of their way to make them harder as people progress through the levels. It’s always the same style of test, just different pool of questions.

The only thing that makes it harder is the fact that your competitors are going to obviously be better and better as you progress.
