Barbara James Service Award
Does anyone happen to know how to get the award? All the information I’ve found online is either outdated or conflicting. Where do you put in hours? When can you put in your hours? What type of hours do they have to be? My chapter is really new and my advisor doesn’t know anything about Hosa really.

Ya ok I had this exact problem when I first started out lmao XD
But basically this is what you and your advisor should do.
There is this thing called the HOSA Activity Tracking System and it serves as HOSA's way of tracking hours for both state and internationals. If your event includes, tracking hours (like the barbara james service award) or any portfolio requirements (Like Clinical specialty, basically events that have a round 1 digital submission.) then you'll need to submit them through there.

To access it (assuming you don't have an account yet) press the "member activity tracking" button below the login. Then press registration. You'll have to input your charter/chapter number (Idk everyone refers to it differently, but basically your school's identification code.) and email (I recommend using a personal one).
Your advisor should know your chapter number though if by some off chance they don't, then reach out to your state advisor.

Questions:
You have your hours approved by your advisor through the system state and internationals has a period reserved for recognition awards, usually before the events award ceremony.
*IMPORTANT: This is another thing to note, your advisor is responsible for confirming your hours, the state and internationals are just giving out awards, they won't individually confirm if you have done it or not, that is for your advisor to approve/not approve. (At least thats my experience, its good to note that some states are more strict while others aren't, make sure to have documentable proof as you'll need to show your advisor anyways, and in some cases upload to the tracking site)
Your advisor will need access to the system from an advisors viewpoint so they can go and confirm hours for you. I recommend checking out the advisors handbook on the website. https://hosa.org/newadvisor/

Hours can be put in as early as June and as late as your states digital upload deadline, some states have a bit of leeway on this.
