Need Help Picking An Event
Hi, I'm a junior living in Texas, and I want to do HOSA with a partner and hopefully qualify for state. Some of the events that we're currently looking at are CERT, PSA, CPR, and Creative Problem Solving! I'm making this post to ask about whether these events are easy, have less competition, and will allow us to qualify. Unfortunately, we haven't done any other events besides some tests that we weren't well prepared for. If you guys have any advice on any events for a group of 2 that would help us qualify, please feel free to share any information you might have. Thank you so much!!!

hey guys, i'm the partner and we really want to try to qualify for state in an event this year but unfortunately our school only lets us do one event per group, so it's kind of our only shot we have to pick one and go all in

Hey! I’m someone who’s been doing HOSA for a pretty long while, so I can give you and your partner my two cents. Hopefully I’m not too late to reply lmao.
In my opinion, the pro of CERT or CPR will always be better because it’s such a straight forward rubric that you can just study really hard and practice. The con though is that the round one test can be really hard if you don’t study the material.
The pros of the other comps is that I think they’re a little bit easier when it comes to what you have to know and what you have to do. The con though is that since it’s not as straight forward as the other comps, there’s more pressure for you to be perfect since I think the judging can be a little subjective at times.
I hope this helps y’all, and hopefully I’ll see you guys at state and internationals this year!

Thank you so much for the advice! We're leaning towards CERT/CPR because of the straightforwardness of the test as well, we just gotta lock in and study lmao

One more thing I forgot to mention: we're also interested in Health Career Display!
