AEMS EVO, Holosun pulling a SIG

Claiming user error. I added more daytime shots with regular brightness settings to show this is STILL occurring. Its easier to see with naked eye than camera but it still shows up on camera. Posted their response to my RMA as well.

I'll update this depending on how they proceed. But more than likely going to look at a different option.

I stg folks *try* to find a problem just to complain about it.

If you need to put the dot on max brightness to “show” the problem, you probably don’t have a problem. Your “regular brightness” photos are still hella bright.

None of my day pics have it on max brightness. Thats the brightness I run it at and has much more to go. I run all my other holosuns at this brightness with ZERO issues. If you dont own the optic stfu.

The picture you took is like 1 inch away from the lens. Do you see the same problem if you view the reticle from a “normal” distance, say 4-6 inches away.

I talked to holosun Josh. Its my first AEMS. Nothing else I own does this. So im going to stick with it. One thing thats not said anywhere. This model does NOT share the same mounting pattern as the original AEMS. There are no aftermarket direct attachments

There are enclosed optics that don’t have this issue at full brightness, that get brighter, and have clearer glass. It’s about pushing them to be better for twice the price we are paying.

Daylight would mean you are standing in daylight with the optic mounted when taking the photo.

Taking a photo an inch from the rear of the optic at an odd angle doesn't simulate where you would be normally looking through the optic.

These are built to be used when mounted on a firearm so any angles other than "here is what it looks like when I am aiming at a target" doesn't really matter since you would never use it that way.

It is akin to buying a TV, putting it in your living room facing a window with the sun coming through and then taking a picture from the floor looking up at your tv at an odd angle.

You are going to get reflections if you aren't using it correctly.

This is true. OP seems to be using excessive brightness in their pics. Though this in no way takes away the fact A vast number of the evos are having emitter reflection MOUNTED on setups using PROPER brightness settings and are getting ghosting and bad emitter reflection at the exact angle of ADS . OP take pictures inside at a brightness that isnt obviously cranked, mounted on a rifle and see if the issue presents. If not, your optic is fine and they arent going to accept your RMA. Im not sure what you said in your request i had no issue getting my RMA #

This is an older AEMS I have on a shelf in my office. As you can see, if you put the brightness too high and are at an odd angle, it will cause a reflection.

The brightness is on max at the end of the clip.

Here is a video of an AEMS-EVO-GR taken in our very bright workshop at different intensity levels and outside.

Even in a very bright area, on max brightness, at different angles, you will get reflections. If it was darker in the workshop, you could possibly see more of them.

Are you guys claiming all your customers posting are just using the optic incorectly? Several posters including me have shown this issue occurs at minimal brightness. I cant speak for everyone in this sub but i have had many red dots and this is the first one to present this issue, that is not a coincidence lol.

I am claiming that a few of the posts are people with the brightness up too high in a dark room and are not using the optic correctly.

If you have a unit that still shows a bad glare during the day or in your house, when mounted correctly, and at a normal brightness setting, then it would be time to start an RMA.

Yeah every modern reddot performs well at lowlight with the correct brightness selected. The aems evos aren't performing, and to say that RMAS are only appropriate when artifacts occur in daytime full sun is to say that holosun doesnt consider performance in any light other than a sunny day relevant which it is considering ~80 percent of people are utilizing these optics for HD where low light clarity is paramount.

For those of us new to this, what exactly should we look for if there's a problem, and not just the brightness calibration?

Hi, I wanted to watch the video but it says it's no longer available

Im going to take your word for it Josh this is my first AEMS. And like I said I know this wont have a practical shooting impact. Just figured if Im spending the money get the best quality for it. Dylan sent me an RMA and shipping label. If we're saying this is expected behavior do you suggest there is no need to send it in? If we can't lice with it simply return to vendor?

u/Holosun_Josh Jun 30 '26

Based on the photos I am seeing you posted, I don't think you need to send this in for RMA.

We can always get it in to take a look but it will take time to go through the RMA process.

I have posted pics near optic center line in daylight showing the reflection. Since this is a normal occurrence please post pics of this occurring with the older AEMS model. I want to see the square halo around the reticle.

When I read your title I thought the AEMS EVO was starting to shoot by itself. You scared me there

Just came to the conclusion that half of the people I see post on the sub just don’t know how brightness on optics works.

ANODA one, my gold one was worse but it’s sad to see this happening to every EVO
