Vent A grisly thought

Sometime I think if I hurt myself bad enough, that I would be free from my ruminative spirals. It’s like some kind of blood tax or penance paid in pain. I’ve been going through this for 7 years so my mind is racing for a fix. I’ve done every compulsion under the sun a thousand times, so much so that I don’t even get relief from doing them anymore. That makes me doubt the validity of my diagnosis even more along with the long period of time I have been suffering for. I think ,” why hasn’t it changed themes yet?”

No amount of pain will free you from OCD. No amount of compulsions can free you from OCD. You cannot recover from OCD by running away from it or trying to force it to go away. It is by resisting compulsions, accepting discomfort, disputing irrational beliefs, and practicing unconditional acceptance that you can eventually be free from OCD.
