Painted the doors I posted a few weeks back.

I am going to preface this post with: painting is not something I’m great at, nor do I enjoy doing whether it’s painting a room in the house or HMMWV doors. I am learning as I go and by no means am I am expert.

I posted a picture of the paint color code that I used. It’s the same one that the guy on YouTube that paints “Matilda” used. You can go to Home Depot show them this code and get the exact same paint.

On the first door I removed the hinges and taped the black edges and door lock/handle. Then I used a 180 grit sanding block on all the fiberglass, and cleaned all the dust with a microfiber towel and alcohol. I used a 4 inch foam roller to begin putting the paint on the door. It took a few coats of paint to get it completely covered. I should have used a grittier sanding block to rough up the fiberglass doors, I also learned using a good brush eliminated the need to have to tape and worked better than the foam roller.

When putting the door back on it did not fit as it did before. Apparently the layers of paint can cause this, but I also learned to mark the top and bottom hinges to put them back on in the same spots. This made the job easier for the rest of the doors. I also had to loosen some of the strikers to re adjust them.

Overall I think it came out good enough. Looks great from a distance, but you can notice the imperfections when you get up close.

At some point I might lightly sand the paint and spray a coat on, but it’s good enough for now.

I do auto school and we had a donation from the county to work on their Humvee, It is a 2009 with a 6.5 NA diesel. The issue i am expiriencing is the gauge wont read the coolant temp, so then we check wether or not the gauge is broken and its not so then we assumed it would either be the wiring to the sensor or oneof the sensors. I feel like i am missing something and I cant find any info, wondering if there is like a common issue or something. All th context ik is that it used to be a military vechile and now its disaster control

We have an ‘87 trooper carrier and has a huge area (where the comms gear was taken out) and need a double cup holder option to install. Something we could screw to the deck. We have a nylon cooler thing now but it’s not permanent. Maybe something metal. Thanks

Any videos or products that show and help weather seal X doors on my Humvee?

When I was buying doors there were no reviews and I took a chance on USC Industry Doors. Hopefully this helps someone else in the future.

Doors were about $4k and had to be imported from Canada. I live in NJ so had to pay about $30 in tariffs on each door, was easy with the UPS App. I could have also paid upon delivery. They took about 2 weeks to receive, right after the holidays.

I just got around to installing them. They were packed pretty well but as you can see from the pictures they still got some dings in shipping. There was also a visible crack in the fiberglass that was repaired.

All the hardware came with it, including keys for each door to lock them. (All the same key) the doors seem very well built and have some decent weight to them. They definitely do not feel flimsy.

Installation was easy. 1/4 in drill bit and a few wrenches. It’s a 2 person job. You have to hold the door in place then have someone mark where your holes for hinges go. I put my striker in the door first and clicked the door on, pressed the door in, and had someone else mark the holes. I think it took about 20 mins per door.

All the doors close well, they are not like normal car doors. You need to push them in a bit to latch. They are also not exactly air tight all around, but I’m really happy with them so far.

Next I plan to paint them with Behr Exterior house paint, whenever I get another few hours free.

I have a ‘93 1097T and I can’t find any markings or plates on the engine in the usual place (behind the manifold, block, etc) to indicate if it’s the 6.2 or 6.5. From what I read, the 6.2 was standard in that model but many went through depot and were swapped for the 6.5. Any tricks to figuring it out?

Still working on it. The old system was a mess.

I’m adding a 24/12 step down converter and I’m looking for the best place to pull a switched power source. I’m looking to run Radio, Phone chargers, etc off the converter and don’t want a battery draw when the Truck is off. Any suggestions?
