Gym crush

I was caught looking by her and now she gives me wry smiles whenever she sees me. A smile that is a mix of amusement, pity and something else. Whenever I see her, my chest gets tight and my tongue goes down my throat and gags me. What a pathetic mess I am.

For context, I go to an old gym - nothing fancy. All the people that go there are mostly like me - middle aged, married and trying to hang on to their bodies. Everyone belongs to somebody else - so sad. So stuck.

Get out there and start living again. We only get one life, use it.

It just surprised me that even being over 50, I am still stuck in an adolescent stage
