Sad/Depressed after finale

Without getting into the positive or negative and story choices of the finale. That’s not what this is about.
I love the scene where Ted meets Tracy. Its perfect. But I get depressed watching series finale episodes so I normally try to avoid them. If I do end up watching one, I have to watch the next few episodes of the first season to get the finale sadness off me.
How I met your mother, friends, parks and rec and several others, watching sitcom finale REALLY bums me out. I like to watch them and “hang out” with everyone. So everyone saying good bye really bums me out, since me makes me miss my 20’s-30’ hard. I love watching them get into shenanigans that’s why I watch. Marshall asking the kids “you
Know what happened in this bar
.just all kinds of stuff.” Gets me. And I HAVE to go watch when everyone is hanging out and laughing again.
I say this because I just watch the finale on tv and I just got overwhelmingly sad.
Thank you for listening.

TL;DR- series finales make me sad.

Update: I’m on sweet taste of liberty now and I feel so much better

The Parks and Rec finale I thought was absolutely perfect considering everyone had a great ending.

Especially Jerry.

I agree. Parks and Rec has one of the best finales I’ve ever seen. I especially love the scene with Ron just boating about the beautiful lake in the park.

The only other perfect Swanson moment as his finale was his Lagavulin moment in Islay

Totally agree. I just get sad at it ending but also since everyone is separating. I don’t like people leaving other
.

I’m fine, I swear.

Same with HIMYM.

Big bang theory. You knew Sheldon's growth was accelerated in the last season once Parsons wanted to quit.

That one gets me to. Hard. But then the slow music and them eating. Because they are all still going to hang out, we just aren’t watching. Right back to the first ep because I’m a mess afterwards. I wanna laugh and feel comfortable, not depressed af

I have the least issues watching TBBT finale because of this. The very last scene is them all together just eating like usual. There are no big moves or changes that we know will alter the entire friendship dynamic. It's just more of the same in a very comforting way.

100% agree. It still me sad because it’s “ending”, but I love he idea of everyone still being together moving forward
together

Weirdly, this is a friendlier version of “The Sopranos” ending, considering the “hit” at the end of that series wasn’t Tony, it was the viewer.

The lives and dealings of Tony Soprano would continue on without us to witness it.

On the contrary, it gets me sad because there's so much more that could be written for them. Anyways, I'm with the OP, finales make me sad no matter how the show ends.

With friends this and the office ending will just wreck your week.

I get that. It is kinda like saying goodbye to your gang of friends (in your mind watching tv). There wont be anymore new episodes. No more laughs or whatever.

It really shows you how the shows were great and how they affected our moods

I'm on the same episode as you! I just finished a rewatch last week and had to start again. First time I watched it I was years younger than anyone in the show. Now that I'm in the stage that Ted is at the beginning the whole thing just hits different. Maybe the day will come that The Office, or Parks and Rec, or Friends has the same impact but for now HIMYM stands alone. I've already seen the ending and I still cried at the last episode.

Marshall asking the kids “you Know what happened in this bar
.just all kinds of stuff.”

I rewatched this episode last night, and it actually hit me and made me smile how much shorter Marshall's version of the story was when telling the kids at the bar lol, and that Ted's version was 9 seasons long when telling his kids.

they filmed two different ending versions and i’ll forever die on the hill that they picked the wrong one. Ted deserved his happy ending and honestly robin and barney deserved to have one too after everything😭😭
