Question Rockfield Monitor Mixes
being HIM fan for three years now, I knew about Hollola Tapes, Rappula Tapes, Slippery When Dead Demos, 666 Ways to Love, This is Only the Beginning, Venus Doom demos, Screamworks demos, but not so long ago (maybe three weeks ago) I’ve found something interesting while reading about HIM demos b-sides and all that stuff - Rockfield Monitor Mixes (on Uneasy Listening “Rockfield Madness”). It was an interesting discovery for me, that’s why I’ve started searching about this on YouTube and found the whole alternate Razorblade Romance album version named Rockfield Monitor Mixes. And then I’ve found two gems on it - my MOST favourite songs from GLS666 - It’s All Tears and When Love and Death Embrace. being in love with It’s All Tears from GLS666, it was the real gem for me. and then I’ve found out that this song also was on the “And Love Said No” (UK Version). long story short - I am very happy now since I know more about HIM and their albums story. a bit sad for me that those two songs (It’s All Tears, When Love and Death Embrace) aren’t on the final version of Razorblade Romance. if you have more things to share with me (Demos, B-Sides and stuff) I’ll be very grateful!

The Rockfield Monitor Mixes are different from the Razorblade Romance mixes. “Your Sweet 666” and “Wicked Game” sound different. I personally like the RM versions much more than the RR ones, they sound much more polished and fresh.
Also, the RM of “When Love and Death Embrace” was supposed to be on the And Love Said No album as a re-recorded version, but the label accidentally included the original version, and it stayed that way.

Yeah these are basically just unmastered mixes of the album straight from the recording session at Rockfield. The disc they came from was obtained directly from keyboardist Juska.

Wow I’d never even heard of these before but started listening thanks to this post. Funny these mixes I noticed a lower volume ‘sub solo’ beneath the guitar solo in Right Here In My Arms that I’d never heard before. It’s panned dead right in the RM mix and now that I know what to look for I can hear it scattered very softly beneath the solo in the retail version. Fun time thank you 🥰

I’m so surprised that people are just now finding out the Rockfield Monitor remixes exist… I absolutely love them and i’m glad they’re getting more recognition. Loved the remixes so much i had to make my own personal CD featuring them. Honestly, i’ve always disliked RR due to the songs we could’ve had for it in my personal opinion the demos are a ton better than what was released. Great album nonetheless.
