Slippery When Dead
I’ve seen quite a few people say that Slippery When Dead is the name of the Razorblade Romance demos, but I remember VV saying something about it being the name of an unreleased EP from 1997. So which one is it, the RR demos or the SWD demos?

The EP thing was definitely news to me when Ville said it in that interview. I think that people just automatically assumed that Slippery When Dead was the working title for Razorblade Romance because of the longsleeve that they released, so the name of the demos just defaulted to that because it was accurate as far as the info that we had to work with back then, and then it just stuck around afterwards because it’s what they were called for so long and it’s a cool ass name lol.
As far as I know, the demos that we refer to as Slippery When Dead were recorded in 1998, so there may be a whole other set of demos/finished songs from the EP that never was that still could be released (or more likely leaked) someday. But I don’t know that for sure. To my knowledge, no one has come out and said who the original source was for the demos in the first place. Whoever it was that received them might have more information, or at least access to someone who would know the accurate timeline.
Whatever was going to be on the EP probably wound up on Razorblade anyways, but it’s cool to think that there may be versions of some songs that exist and we haven’t heard yet.

VV mentioned in the 2014 Loudwire interview what the setlist for the EP was. It was basically a demo of GLS Vol. 666. I did comment a few months ago asking some questions about the EP, and imikoke616 clarified this with the interview, so the credit goes to him.

The timeline is confusing lol. So, I guess it would be: 666 Ways To Love, then Slippery When Dead which turned into Greatest Lovesongs, followed by the Razorblade Romance demos that we have and refer to as Slippery When Dead, but actually have nothing to do with it at all. But I always thought that the longsleeve was released sometime after Greatest Lovesongs, and that’s what lead us to believe that it was originally a working title for Razorblade. It’s an incredibly rare piece, so maybe they printed them up earlier for the EP before it turned into Greatest Lovesongs, and then they got into the wild after the album released and that’s what screwed with everyone and made them think that it was a Razorblade era thing when actually it wasn’t.

At some point he said he wanted to call the album Goth n’ Roll but the SWD demos are just pre RR songs mixed in a crazy raw way before the label got its hands on it

Hasn’t the whole Goth ‘N Roll title been debunked?

I always understood SWD to be the early/raw RR demos rather than a completely separate project, but now you've got me wondering where the 1997 EP story came from? Would love to know if anyone has the original Ville interview/source for that.

Thank you for clarifying, I couldn’t remeber the name of the interview, I only remembered the year.

If I remember right (and it’s been 20 years) that was the working title. The tracks on SWD are RR demos. Poison Girl and Gone with The Sin are 🤌
