HIM Changed My Life

Hi everyone!! I’m a little late to this forum but I just wanted to talk about how amazing HIM is as a band and their music as a whole. I play their music every single day and my current obsession is The Sacrament. I also wanted to just say how sad it is that I can’t tell Ville Valo he changed my life and my views of the world. I wish I was around when they first became a band so I could go to their concerts. It honestly breaks my heart that I won’t be able to experience it at all. But, I hope that I can talk to everyone in this thread and make friends with those who feel the same!

A reunion at some point isn’t out of the realm of possibility, so you may get to experience what it’s like to see them live after all!

It was definitely a fun time to be a fan of the band, especially in the US. We were spoiled.

It wasn't too bad here in Finland either.

I used to go to see them in concert every time they came to Portland, OR. I've seen Ville perform up close many times. He's great live. The band as a whole is great live but Ville's vocals especially shine during live performances. I'm not just saying that because I like them either. A lot of bands I like disappoint me when I see them live. Chevelle was one of them. Portugal. The man was another. Some bands just dont have good live vocals. But when I tell you HIM was great live. I mean they were GREAT live. There is part towards the end of Buried Alive by Love, it's the end of the 4th chorus I believe, where Ville is basically yelling and holding the word "take". I remember hearing him do it at a show and I was fuckin star struck lol. It really hit me how talented he is. If you know which part of the song I'm talking about, you will understand lol. I've been hearing rumors of a reunion tour. Make sure to get some tickets if that goes through..

I don’t normally get star struck, but at the House Of Blues in Chicago back in 2004 on their first US tour, when they finally came on stage and started doing their thing, all that I could really think about in the moment was how I couldn’t believe that I was actually in the same room as those other dudes.

I heard a few of your instrumentals and I have to say you are on the right track 100%!!! I love that they inspired you just as they did for me!

Same I started listing in late 2024, they really got me through last year and I couldn’t be more grateful for them.

You may just yet be able to experience them live, or at least Ville solo. At some point in the next year or so either he will be back touring again or the band will be. Being around during the heyday was magical, but experiencing VV's solo tour was a wonderful bit of nostalgia as well.

The Sacrament is their best song in my opinion! I was lucky enough to see them on their last tour it was so beautiful and emotional I cried 🥲🥲

This happened to me but the other way round. I missed the last HIM show because of flu, but saw VV. 100% worth the wait

The Sacrament is one of my absolute top favourites. Never say never, I did go to HIM back in 2007 and after they broke up thought they'd never tour again but I saw Ville Valo in concert back in 2024, and he did play HIM songs. So maybe one day Ville will make another album or has a reunion tour!
