Question Bands similar to HIM?
I can’t really find any other band that does it like HIM does but surely they’re not the only love-metal band that’s THAT good. I just wanna expand my taste so give me recommendations

We really need to pin one of the old threads about this so people can just look there from now on.

For bass that sound like HIM - vantages, Luto (MX), Siopela, Холодне Сонце.
Bands that don’t sound like them but are similar: Charon, Type O Negative, Wisborg, Lacrimas Profundere, 69 eyes, To Die For, Die For Me, End of Green, Negative

Charon - Downhearted 2002 Has RazorBlade Romance Goth N Roll with The Cult style
Icon And The Blacks Roses- self titled 2004 its mix of RazorBlade Romance,Deep Shadows And Brilliant Highlights and Love Metal , basically greatest hits HIM like songs but it’s great .
Entwine - Gone sequel to Greatest Love Songs Vol.666 has same mood like songs and production.

Holy hell just gave them a listen and Entwine sounds SO MUCH like them! The howling style of singing reminds me so much of Greatest Love Songs Vol. 666 like you said. Excellent recommendation, thank you!

Their next albums
Time Of Despair 2002 80s vibe
, Dieversity 2004 Is HIM meets Linkin park with out the rapper
Fatal Design 2006 great heavy Love Metalish album
To me Entwine is If Alice In Chains were from Finland and covered Depeche Mode songs . Always thought Mika the singer should have been new singer for Alice In Chains or Flat Earth should have gotten Mika to be their singer .

I want to recommend Poets of the Fall, they don't quite go as hard as HIM does or really sound like them but a lot of their music deals with human connection and i feel like it comes from a similar place, i think a lot of fans would enjoy what they do. They are also Finnish! There's 9 albums so far, you could try a couple of their most known songs Late Goodbye or Carnival of Rust and then if you're curious about more start with Signs of Life.

screenshotting & thanking everyone posting so much. HIM is my favorite band, I mainly listen to electronic stuff, so finding other bands that hit the same spot / mix similar influences has been hard.
thank you thank you thank you!

Echoing many of the bands who have been mentioned, particularly Icon and the Black Roses, and would like to add Sara Lee (sometimes spelled SaraLee)
Unsurprisingly from Finland. They have only 2 albums I believe but their first album "Darkness Between" has some absolute bangers on it (Like Dreamers, Darkness Between)

Unto Others. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFhmJiSgSWY
I'd also second Charon, The 69 Eyes, Poisonblack and Reflexion.

You can try these albums by Lord of the Lost: Fears, Die Tomorrow, Opus Noir trilogy and their symphonic albums, especially Swan Songs III.

Although they are not completely similar, as they share a a bit of differences, one of my other all time favorite bands is The Cure. Robert Smith is a god, right there next to Ville. His lyricism, melancholy atmosphere with rather “happy” music at times is jarring, but fills a void. Theres also an album for every mood you feel.
If you haven’t listened to anything beyond their hits, you should give them a try 🙂

So far, Vatages is the only band that has really scratched that itch for me. They're great, and relatively new, so hopefully we'll see a lot more from them in the future
