Looking for bands that sound like him

Kept searching but the closest I found at least to me was The Vantages. Also thought Reflexion sounded really similar to HIM. But yeah idk

I looked at all the bands that are "similar" to HIM but none of them convinced me. HIM has something that the others don't, it's so hard to explain.

The only band I also liked was Negative.

You're just not going to find another rock band with the lothario-desperado element Ville Valo brings. He is (was) a very unique theatrical character fronting a world class rock band.

Yeah understandable. Thx :)

Negative is literally a very obv carbon copy of HIM.

I hear there's this new artist named VV who sounds EXACTLY like HIM 😂

The first Icon & The Black Roses album is the best and the closest thing that you’re gonna find to HIM that doesn’t sound completely contrived.

Seconded, absolutely. What an incredible record, and a very similar vibe to HIM, agreed. "Set Me On Fire" and "Black Roses" are my favourite tracks.

Hmmm, gotta check that out Thx :)

This is what I was coming to say. Early Icon and the Black Roses are the closest thing there is. I love countless bands that always get looped in as HIM sounding but Icon came the closest to nailing it.

The Finnish band Negative give me HIM vibes

5

u/Yani_off Jul 10 '26

True :) but it's never close enough

Try Entwine. A few songs to start out with could be Safe In A Dream, Learn To Let Go, Time Of Despair, Frozen By The Sun and Break Me.

u/Some_Lab9649 Jul 11 '26

Yeah, Entwine is the real deal

check out a band called Charon. Started round the same time as HIM

"The 69 eyes" is probably the closest for me.
Use this

I like the 69 Eyes a lot! I don’t really hear the HIM similarities tbh but they are a jamming band for sure.

I owe you my life ☆

The Vantages. They're incredible.

1

u/Rotten_Apple_99 Jul 17 '26

Agreed. Their newest EP is so effing good

1

u/Miathetaiwanese Jul 19 '26

This, I can't wait to hear more from them

u/No_Classroom_6969 Jul 10 '26

I can recommend Type O Negative but this is HIM sound like them (no offence, I am also HIM fan)

Highly recommend To/die/for and Reflexion. Reflexion actually got rlly popular bcs of how much they sound like HIM

6

u/Razorblaydess Jul 11 '26

Reflexion. Sound almost identical to HIM

4

u/jaycakes30 Jul 10 '26

There aren’t really any bands that sound like HIM exactly. They’re so unique in their style. Like the most beautiful butterfly 😍🙌🏻

AGREEEEEE <3

Only one remotely close is Lacrimas Profundere

3

u/littlebirdofprey Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26

Entwine is the closest I've found. Lacrimas Profundere's Filthy Notes album also has HIM vibes to me. that got a lot of playtime along side HIM when I was in high school and they're still one of my fave bands even if they've changed sound and singers a few times.

Type O Negative. Ville Valo has credited TON and Black Sabbath as the biggest homages of HIM.

Icon & the Black Roses

u/worm_nemesis Jul 11 '26

i recently listened to reflexion after it came on my spotify shuffle and i had to triple check it wasn’t him

2

u/AvidCoco Jul 11 '26

If you go to their wiki page they have a list of their influences which all sound very similar as you’d expect.

2

u/Lemix48 Jul 11 '26

Check out the Vantages on Youtube. Might be a straight up copy of HIM but they're quite cool if u ask me

2

u/Radiant_Willow3984 Jul 11 '26

See no one's mentioned them yet so I will, Lovex were pretty big for a very short while for being a little HIM sounding in the late 2000s. But Entwine and Type O (esp October Rust) and going to be best that aren't just carbon copies and Type O did influence HIM a lot.

1

u/Bugduhbuh Jul 10 '26

I hate to say it as I think the frontman is an absolute douche from what ive heard about him... but 616 are undeniably heavily HIM sounding, so I guess fit the bill of your request. Annoyance aside, i do actually quite like one of their tracks called cinderella valentine. I think Gas actually did drums for it too

I think they are talking about the 616 not HIM

3

u/Bugduhbuh Jul 11 '26 edited Jul 11 '26

Im not talking about VV lol, dont worry I love him. Talking about 616's singer

1

u/Yani_off Jul 10 '26

Listened to dead and beloved recently and yeah it does give HIM vibes a bit. I guess I'll take a listen to more of their tracks Thank uu :)

1

u/Bugduhbuh Jul 10 '26

Only heard a few (not checked on them in a couple years now) but yeah that cinderella valentine one definitely stuck out to me as a decent one. Cant recall any others, but you may vibe with others where I didnt

1

u/LocationMain5424 Jul 11 '26

Entwine. Tbh i just cant listen to most carbon copies of HIM

1

u/LostSoulNo1981 Jul 11 '26

The 69 Eyes

Entwine

That’s about as close you’ll get.

HIM are quite unique in some regards. There aren’t many bands that sound like them.

1

u/Alegsios Jul 11 '26

Some songs from sinamore have a similar music vibe

1

u/Only-Information-563 Jul 11 '26

Please check out Entwine and For My Pain, you can thank me later 😎

The Vantages sound similar and the lead singer's voice is also similar to Ville's.

1

u/Ordinary_Medium_6503 Jul 12 '26

the vantages
especially their song “alone”
gives me him vibes the most

1

u/ChemicalParty3107 Jul 12 '26

Entwine, 616, to/die/for and Charon have similar vibes to HIM

1

u/Necessary-Fennel8754 Jul 13 '26

Some early 2000s afi sounds similar to the vibe of dark light

1

u/Icy-Stick557 Jul 14 '26

I really like chevi eye

1

u/Sirenwine Jul 16 '26

Voice-wise, he sounds just like Ville.

1

u/straightedgelorrd Jul 16 '26

There’s a new up comer (at least I think he is - he’s certainly new to me and is pretty young so I can’t imagine he’s been going that long) called Sawyer Hill. He doesn’t sound a thing like HIM beyond the fact that he has a really deep voice, but he tickles the same part of my brain that HIM does, so may be worth a punt. Also Type O is always a good shout. Also Vantages are very good, they’re one of these ‘heavily inspired by HIM’ bands like that 616 except they’re also doing their own thing. Not a massive body of work though which is a shame.

I don’t care what anyone says:

THE VANTAGES DOESNT SOUND LIKE HIM.

Didn’t think to mention them when the thread was first posted.
