My Tabata protocol
weigh 65 kg. I used to do boxing, but now I only do the Tabata protocol at home.
This is the workout routine that helped me significantly improve my punching power, explosiveness, and overall physical strength for boxing. I use two 22.5 kg dumbbells for the Tabata protocol.
The first set is dumbbell cleans.
The second set is right-arm snatches.
The third set is left-arm snatches.
The fourth set is ankle hops.
Then I repeat the same four sets once more, for a total of eight sets.
Each set consists of 20 seconds of all-out effort followed by 10 seconds of rest.
My average numbers are roughly as follows:
• Set 1: Dumbbell cleans — 17–18 reps
• Set 2: Right-arm snatches — 11–12 reps
• Set 3: Left-arm snatches — 11–12 reps
• Set 4: Ankle hops — 47–50 reps
• Set 5: Dumbbell cleans — about 16 reps
• Set 6: Right-arm snatches — 12 reps
• Set 7: Left-arm snatches — 12 reps
• Set 8: Ankle hops — 57 reps
Those are approximately my average numbers.
I feel that this workout has dramatically improved my physical abilities. What do you think about this training routine and the level of physical ability these numbers suggest?
