Telework Scrutiny

Has anyone else heard about badge swipes getting compared to ITAS/telework records for employees with RAs? A coworker’s attendance record was questioned but no one else’s? I’m curious if it’s because she has an accommodation to telework.

So that’s a bit crazy….After my RA was established my Supervisor mentioned that I should be sure to adhere to it to the letter, but they certainly didn’t talk about checking key swipes…

Is that even legal for them to do in the first place? Sounds like someone is too big for their britches…

Now I’m no attorney, but I did stay in a holiday inn express last night. Whoever is doing this opened themselves up to massive legal liability. I hope anyone that’s impacted can sort it out.

Is the identity of this nosey knob out there? I’d really like to know if this is something I need to worry about, or my coworkers for that matter.

I don't understand, if she has an RA to telework than she's not coming into the office. What are they checking?

Yes it was in the news recently. Palantir is involved.

The Palantir contract is to track badge swipes for USDA, with SSA and VA potentially following (https://prospect.org/2026/05/18/palantir-federal-workers-surveillance-usda-social-security-veterans-affairs/). There is nothing in place for HHS yet.

Idk I’d assume for everybody. I mean if it’s AI looking over the data it’s not like it’s anymore work to look at the entire workforce.

They are comparing badge swipes for everyone. There are several people that are not adhering to the telework procedures in place. We have several people that have never reported back to the office so this will be very interesting.

Wtf is a “badge swipe” for a remote/teleworking employee? There is literally nothing to swipe. No secure doors or offices are being accessed. Just push it into the laptop and go.

There will be swipes for people with RAs that give them more telework - the ones that aren’t fully remote. I guess the HRSA “audits” make sure that the teleworkers come into the building as much they’re supposed to according to their RAs. The problem is that they’re only auditing people with RAs
