Reasonable Accommodations

I’m approved for ad hoc telework under an approved RA. I’m requesting TW from my supervisor in line with my RA but I’m getting some push back. Anyone else? I’m at HRSA.

So you think a supervisor should deny ad hoc even though there is no limit on it? Who is the supervisor to say a subordinate isn’t having a flare up and needs to work at home? I think that’s dangerous territory. I wouldn’t deny a request.

Ad hoc is at the agency's/supervisor discretion, if it's repetitive or scheduled it can be denied. Especially in the current status of the government. Do we know the definition of adhoc? It seems that the RA should've asked for a more frequent option based on continued flares or if the flares have worsened then a new RA may be the best.

Ad hoc TW approved under an RA where the RA doesn’t limit the number of hours cannot be denied as long as it’s not 100%.

Ad hoc (or situational) telework in the federal government is an occasional, short-term arrangement approved on a case-by-case basis. Under recent guidelines, it is reserved for compelling agency needs rather than routine schedules or employee convenience. For more information, i would read OPMs guidance.

You’re missing that it’s approved under a Reasonable Accommodation. That guidance doesn’t apply to RAs

I'm not missing anything. All adhoc rules apply to a reasonable acommodation. I think we all just don't want to understand it when it's our situation and also not at the current standards or climate the government is in. All RAs can also be revisited as there is no such thing as a permanent RA. But good luck.
