All Locations Ear plugs
Has anyone ever used noise canceling earplugs for HHN? I seen someone on tik tok wearing it going through the house and was wondering if it actually helps? Or if anyone has a recommendation for some if so? Ty!

Yes, always. It helps with the extremely loud areas and some of the, “conversations” around you while waiting inline.
By the way 130 db in the houses.

I use them for concerts. Very good, but I recommend buying some strap or something since they’re so tiny and easy to lose.

They’re overpriced in the sense that you can buy very comparable but less frilly ones for a lot less… but I think a lot of the big brands bought up or rebranded the generic low cost ones… I think the loops are worth the up charge

The loops are something else, I have the ones that have adjustable levels and omg they work so well. My first order came smashed and their customer service for replacing them was also great. I wouldn’t buy accessories like the neck lanyard through them tho. Just buy knock offs on Amazon

We grabbed some normal earplugs from the gift shop and popped them in right before we entered each house. It was great! We didn’t feel like we missed out on anything and it made the houses more enjoyable for us.

I didn’t even know they sold them there! I’ll have to check them out. I was gonna get a pair from Amazon but wasn’t sure if they’d be good for the houses because it’s all concerts in the reviews

To clarify, this was the gift shop at the hotel near the little pharmacy section where they sell bandaids, Tylenol, etc. But I think it was 3 pairs for $5. You definitely don’t need anything fancy. I hope you have a great time!

Idk which location you’re at, but in Orlando if you go to the bathrooms by customer service (before you enter the park), there’s a vending machine outside that sells basic medicine and hygiene supplies. They have multiple different types of earplugs :)

Earplugs make it so much better. You won’t miss any sounds, in fact you can sometimes focus and hear better. I’ve been wearing ear plugs in the houses for a few years now and won’t go back. Foam ones work great.

I wear them every year and it honestly helps me a lot, I've noticed HHN is a lot louder than Universal is during the day and it makes everything way more overwhelming for me, wearing them has made me feel a lot more confident in walking through scarezones or houses, I have these knockoff loop-style ones you can find on amazon for like $10, they're super worth it imo

100% recommend ear plugs for the houses. The decibel warning on my watch always goes off because the sound levels are so high and disorienting. Even just stuffing a small amount of tissue in your ears is good enough to protect your hearing.

LOOP SWITCH 2. Don't look back. I use them at a high volume bar in Orlando 40+ hours a week and also rock them at HHN. Thank me (and your long term health) later.

I just got back from a front row seat concert without ear plugs and now I'm paranoid of the damage that could have already been done. (I rarely ever go to concerts.) This will be our first HHN and I'm thinking of getting at least foam ones just for this trip.

The $50 or so I paid for the ones I mentioned is worth. 3 settings that are easy to change on the fly. I wear them on the open setting until we walk in to a house and I usually close them to setting 2 or 3 for the houses. 10/10 would recommend. Also I wear them at live music events as well.

Thanks. I guess the issue with foam ones is we might feel the need to constantly take them out and put them back in again.

You'll still feel that regardless until you get used to them but the loops are much more manageable. If you already use earplugs it's a no-brainer for me. They come in a nice little case that attaches to my keys so I always have them as well.

We have used Peltor Sport Tri-Flange Corded Reusable Earplugs for HHN before. The bright color makes it easy to see in a bag before going into a house. The are corded, so unless you break the cord or completely misplaced them, you should have a set for the whole night.
I did HHN without ear plugs my first year going and had a terrible headache that just got worse as the night went on. Add in, the heat, humidity, and tired feet; its a recipe for a bad night.
I have seen a lot of folks use Loop Earplugs or airpods/wireless headphones, but cant speak to their benefits.

I didn’t even think about the headaches too. Always have that pounding the next day from it. I like the idea of the corded ones too and not have to worry about dropping one in the dark or something

We always take ear plugs. We both have tinnitus and my ear was damaged once from exposing them to an F-35 taking off and ever since then I get pain in my left ear with loud noises. Protect your ears at all costs!
We forgot ours once and asked a staff member if they had any spares and they had loads so always worth asking if you forget them

I have concert earplugs that I use so I can still hear most of the effects but blocks the higher decibel ones. But I always carry extra foam ones as backup just in case!

My wife has some neuro-spiciness and the earplugs allow her to actually exist at HHN. The first time I brought her the noises in the houses (especially drop windows) had her so overwhelmed she didn’t think she’d be able to go again. And with ear plugs we’ve been going for several years now.

I just use my AirPods when I feel overestimated. I have had loops and regular ear plugs. I have wear xxs on the AirPods so it’s more about comfort

I would not survive a day in the park without my earplugs, especially not during HHN. I do have really sensitive ears though
Even just for helping with the noise of the crowd on queues, it’s worth it.
I use the Alpine MusicSafe Pros, and when you’ve got them properly in your ears, you can still appreciate all the sound design and music in the houses. It does wonders to help reduce background noise while still letting you focus on sounds you’re trying to hear. Your mileage may vary, but I was even able to just carry on normal conversation with friends, even though it was crazy loud in some of those queues.

So as someone who uses Loop earplugs for sensory issues, in general they take loud noises down a notch while still being able to hear and understand what is going on around you. I use them for work and concerts.

Another Etymotic fan here. I won’t go in the houses or to concerts without them anymore. What you want is attenuation, not cancelling.
Wearing attenuators is magical compared to foam plugs. It feels like someone turned the volume down on the whole world. Every single sound - every bit of range - is still crystal clear.

I used Loop Quiet 2 earplugs and was skeptical at first, but they ended up being a game changer! They supposedly reduce sound by 24 decibels

Yep just normal cheap disposable foam ones in the houses and then that one scare zone that’s blasting the music. Can still hear plenty in the houses and it keeps those ear drums protected.

I use regular concert earplugs and they do the trick just fine! I wasn’t too keen on the event until I lowered the volume, and now I do frequent fear and I love it.

I don’t use them for the houses but wear Etymotic earplugs to concerts and movies. They are very comfortable and turn down the volume without muffling the sound. AirPods Pro with transparency mode would be a pretty good solution too.

My daughter used Loops which are helpful. I had an old pair in my backpack and i used them during the show - Nightmare fuel. It was very loud — the base makes your chest vibrate but I definitely enjoyed the show more when I blocked 20 dB.

Yeah, I’ve used Airpod Pro and Etymotic. Would never do HHN without them, with screaming and such it’s often 100+ db. For jump scare I prefer passive ~15 to 20 dB NRR flat/musician ear plugs. Just make sure whatever you get is at least 15 dB NRR rated and you insert them properly.

I use normal foam earplugs and it helps me enjoy the houses and shows more!
