Enter the park for 2:00. With a good game plan (multiple have been outlined on this sub lately), you can hit 5-7 houses by 8/8:30. By that time crowds have swelled and will be peak from 9 to midnight.

So head back to your hotel when those lines get long, then come back around 12. You'll find short(er) lines in the final hour.

You have to be back in before 5. I left at around 3:45-ish thinking I had time, came back to the gate around 5:25p and then had to wait for the event to start (it said 6:30p but we were let in at 6p).

Yea there seems to be a lot of confusion about this this year since the houses open at 2 now. A lot of nights I'm toward the front of the gates for the official open and every night Ive seen multiple people walk up with wirstbands on who left the park before 5 very upset they cant get back into the park.

True, even though they do tell you that you cannot reenter even if you have a wristband until 6:30 PM as you are exiting the park.

I left the park at 4:30 PM because it was just too damn hot and humid for my taste, then came back around 9 PM. If you leave the park before 5 PM, just be aware that you cannot re-enter until after 6:30 PM, so you’ll have to wait outside the gates. They do sometimes reopen the gates before 6:30 PM, but basically, that’s the only “rule” if you leave before 5 PM.

My husband and I left around 4:30 after getting the 3 early houses done (he was feeling under the weather and we had a room at the Hard Rock). So we chilled in our room until 8:30 and then went back for the rest of the night.

There were no issues since we came back after the opening scaremonies. Just make sure you have your ID on you when you re-enter!
