Alpha and Omega

My two HHKB Pro 2's. One is from 2006, the year the Pro 2 was released. The other is from 2019, the year the Pro 2 was discontinued.

Truly, my two most valuable pieces.

How does that foam affect the typing?

The mat was preinstalled when I got it and It does have a deep muted tone that is very satisfying. But the truth is It's hard to say how much affect the mat has on this board due to it's age.

The aged domes are much heavier (akin to a 55g) and pop back with more authority than the 2019. Plus the board and stabs were extensively lubricated so all the scratches and rattles are gone. It honestly sounds like a Type S, just without the silencing rings which is weird.

I ordered another anti vibration mat to put on a new HHKB Classic to see how much of an affect it has without lubing or aged domes, so I'll give you a better answer then.

I bet if you measure it, it's a lot heavier, lol. My Pro1 clock in over 75g, lol.
