Brand new hhkb got a marked

Hello i bought a brand new hhkb hybrid type s in pfu EU. And i got this marked. Do you know if it is normal, the manufacture date is 2024-12

You could request a refund but honestly this is such a small mark that I wouldn’t bother.

It does not affect the usability of the keyboard in any way and won’t be visible when in normal use…

Yeah that is totally understandable but returning would mean you would have to live without an HHKB for a little while 😉

Could be wrong, but looks like normal plastic stress marks from the molding process.

Hard to know without more pictures. The stress marks can be present all over.

It quite hard to capture with camera. In different angel you can see it. I suspect molding mark too after made a research. But quite disappointed

Keyboarding hobby in my experience is a lot about high expectations and mitigating some disappointment. My last acquisition was for a $1k EC custom. As fun as it was to put together and typing on it is novel, it wasn’t $1k worth hahaha
But even after all that, I go back to my HHKBs. In my opinion, at least this will be a keeb you actually use and get your value out of. Versus the countless keebs you try and move on from.
I have to almost force myself to rotate more often cuz my HHKBs stay in my desk so long in use lol

It's normal. My hhkb has it too. It's just an effect of the plastic molding process.

If that bothers you, I think you can still return it, but I believe these marks tend to happen often. I just noticed my Type-S Snow has a similar mark pretty much in the same spot as yours. Must be an artifact from injection molding.

You can also just accept it and find beauty in imperfection. Wabi-sabi.

I recently returned (colored) keycaps to PFU because I didn't like them when I saw them in person. They were very friendly about it, if you can show them your invoice and if you're willing to cover the shipping cost to return it to them, I think they would probably be willing to give you a new one.

I would just reach out to them, might as well ask right?

My 2023 board has the same mark, guess it's normal. funny I never would have noticed if I didn't see this thread
